hi there.

so i have been shooting up morphine tonight. been doing so for almost a year now. and some thing weird has just happened to me. it has never happened before.

it took me a bit of digging to find my vein. i finally hit it. flagged, and plunged. the usual. then it jammed cause i lost the vein. take the needle out. my arm turns red and white. kinda looks like a giant hive. it doesn't hurt or anything. kinda warm and itchy.

now the weird part. immediately after i did the shot, my pointer finger and a bit of my middle finger swell up. i am talking at least a half a size bigger than my finger is normally. i didn't grab a pic of it. and since i started writing this the swelling has gone down a bit. but the white part on my arm has stayed the same.

now i am sure it isn't cotton fever, i know what that is like.

what i am getting at is, has this happened to anyone else? or does anyone know what has happened to me? should i be worried and go to a hospital?

Histamine reaction, take an anti-histamine if you have anyway.. This is fairly common.

EDIT: Obviously I don't know for sure and if it doesn't keep going down, obviously see a doctor.

But I get histamine reactions like that every now and again, look exactly like that..

Although, only time I ever saw fingers puff up real quick after a shot, was when I saw someone accidentally shoot into an artery.. now, that IS dangerous.

Definitely a histamine reaction by the sounds of it. I've had localized injection site reactions from shooting morphine at high doses plenty of times and I've seen people get localized hives on their arm not far from the injection site as well.

Take a decent anti-histamine such as hydroxyzine, diphenhydramine or promethazine about a hour before you shoot up and not only will it stop or atleast minimize the reaction but it will boost the nod.

That kind of thing used to happen to me from time to time.Nothing to worry about. You just missed some of your shot when you went through the vein and that's a typical reaction

You don't have to miss any of your shot with morphine to get a localized reaction after your shot. I have missed shots before though and morphine burns like a bitch. IM morphine from a doctor hurts like a cunt and often causes a localized reaction as well. You do build a sort of tolerance to the histamine reaction but even now 200mg's in one shot will give me a decent histamine reaction.

I've noticed I get a similar histamine reaction that tends to accompany the first shot of the day (especially when I am using less frequently). It still happens when I get a clean shot, but is more pronounced when I miss a little bit. As far as the puffy fingers go, I've only experienced this with an artery shot; incidentally, shooting into an artery produces the most severe histamine reaction I have ever seen, but is also accompanied by severe pain (if you shot into an artery I think you'd know it, though I don't think the plunger always comes flying out of the back of your equipment as I've seen reported, lol).
