something in my mushrooms?

The other day I got some mushrooms and after eating all of the caps and stems I noticed a bunch of hard white balls in the dust. The were very spherical and crumbled into a powder when I applied preasure to them. My friends and I thought they might have been the shit they were grown in or something to used to cut mushrooms. Has anyone else seen these or know what they are?

Its likely Perlite, people who grow using cakes often put the cake directly onto perlite, so it wouldn't surprise me at all..
There are even those who use perlite in casings, so its also possible too.
