Ok so Ive never been much for rolling until here recently, I am taking lamictal for a "mood disorder" im actualy just irratable but either way i take it I also take celexa, this is for depression and severe anxiety.. I am wondering if It is possible and safe for me to roll, or will i need to stop my medication? I would rather not caus eI do get pretty irritable when i dont take it... I appreciate someone advise and help on this... Thank youvery much
Lamictal isn't an an SSRI, so it wouldn't interfere with MDXX.
The way that MDXX gets into your neurons to do its magic is actually through the serotonin reuptake channels. So if something is blocking those channels, then the MDXX can't get to where it needs to be, and then won't work. Interestingly, some people have been noted to take SSRIs at the end of an MDXX 'trip' as a preventative measure against neurotoxicity. It's been ages since I've looked into the mechanisms of MDMA neurotoxicity, but IIRC (and I may well not) one of the problems is that due to the serotonin depletion sometimes dopamine finds its way through the serotonin reuptake channels, wreaking havoc as a result.
Don't take my word for it though. There's plenty of good information for the finding. The take-home message though is: don't quit taking your meds just to get high. Get well, get stable, and then think about getting high. Your long-term mental health is more important than a short-lived intoxication.
