Some Tips on Choosing the Correct IV Materials

Christ, man. Very tightly. As tight as you can make it. Once you drop it into the liquid its going to puff out as it absorbs the stuff. If it's too loose it will puff and then have insufficient density to act as a filter.

Packing it doesnt seem to make much difference. One way to make it "tight" is roll up the cotton that is fairly small, and if the needle is removed, sort of let it stick into the opening. Once your press onto the spoon to draw up, the cotton can't really expand too much.

paradoxycle, you made alot of mention of IVing with 25g to 28g for IV use. God damn man, I can't even stand 28g! I would hate to imagine a 28g, and refuse to think about 25g in even my largest vein. They hurt, they are a bitch and require quite a bit of effort to push through, nasty wound left behind. Perfect injection style with a 28g on my largest arm vein left a fucking scar! Needles to say, it's very small.

Hahahahaah, this'll probably scare you then: http://n00101.myspace.com/00101/66/14/101094166_l.jpg

Anyways, got a question.

I know what a gauge is, but what do they mean by 1" or 5/8" syringe? Is that just the length? Is bigger better? Is having latex or no latex better?

The reason I'm asking is I have these choices for 25 gauges. I have access to 29 gauges, but the needle does not come off which means I cannot filter it. Though I COULD use the 25 to filter it, pour it back out, and then draw it in the 29 gauge, and then shoot. Would that be a better idea?

okay, i was just asking cause I thought if it was packed too tightly you wouldn't be able to pull the plunger back cause it'd be "stuck"

Dextermeth, I understand that....

Packing, rolling, anything, "compressing" your cotton and sticking it into your needleless rig so it stays put was the point I was making. If you don't go through the effort or can't do that, might as well just throw the cotton in. I believe my said method will make the filter more "tight", if that makes a difference to your peace of mind.

That's a pretty sick picture, but we've all had our fun with 25g 5cc rigs.

1.How about using a piece of swab for the filter?
2.Does one really have to filter anyway if one's solution is crystal clear?
:)

Despite the fact that taking some drugs is currently illegal, people who
inject drugs (users, or injectors) have valid health needs and are entitled
to the same standards of health care and service as anyone else in the
community. Governments should provide the support, knowledge and equipment users need to look after their health, regardless of whether they wish to continue their drug use or not.
The Australian Government takes a community-based approach to harm reduction that
encompasses the following elements:
• a Clean Needle Program (CNP)(including various forms of 1-unit syringes, 2-unit syringes with various available sizes;to mix and match, swabs,(as many as one needs for free),torniquets (small cost), bacteriostatic water(small cost) +else.)
• peer education
• user community participation and ownership
• advocacy
• partnerships with agencies in the health sector and contacts with
all levels of government
• health promotion campaigns and resources

"Swab" from a q-tip?

The swab has alcohol on it, isopropyl. Definately no.

Well, not really.... but it's a better idea. There is a chance you have a particulate that you don't see.

^ It seems like this filtering thing is causing confusion. This is the one-rig method I'd been taught:

1. Prepare your substance with sterile water in spoon and place aside
2. Thoroughly wash and dry hands
3. Remove small piece of sterile cotton and roll into a ball
4. Put ball of cotton into liquid in spoon
5. Gently (so as not to blunten or bend the needle) press the needle tip into the centre of the cotton ball, making sure the needle doesn't come out the other side (i.e. touch the spoon)
6. Draw up the liquid through the cotton ball.

I could be all upside down on this though, since I've never injected before. How does this approach compare with negrogesic's "double barrelled" approach in terms of efficacy?

Something I'd like to add to the conversation... NEVER forget to untie your torniqet after you register the vein. Happened to me today... it was the first time I'd IV'd with someone else there since my first bang. Chatting away, I forgot to loosen the toriniquet, then once the needle was out of my arm, the most amount of blood I've ever seen coming out of an injection site. And a huge blood blister too. Popping viens aint fun. I didn't feel anything, but am SURE its not good.....

I wish i could find the link but way back a friend showed me a microscopic view of a new needle then after 1 2 3 etc uses and it was scary...

Anyone know what i am talking about?

One of the best things i did for my viens was just started buying by the box

Also, before asking this i obviously am to stupid to use the search function or google correctly. I have seen micron filters refered to alot but where does one obtain these? what do they look like?

very good information i will say thank u to all the soon to be junkies out there for the helpful info. i only have one thing i disagree with tho. this comment
"Use a fresh cotton every time you shoot up, and as with needles, syringes, and cookers, never use someone else's cotton or let them use yours; infections, bacteria, and viruses can all be transmitted through sharing cottons.

whats bad if u use your own cotton and u heat it up with the drug to kill off the bacteria while u liquidfy the drug?
