Some mdma pills smell nice, others don't smell at all.

I was wondering why it is that some MDMA pills will have that nice faint anna smell, while other's do not have any smell?

Yet they will both prove to be MDMA.

Its normally down to the process in which they are made / or the place they are stored.

MDMA should have no real smell! A lot of people simply think that a nice aniseed smell = good pill. That's really not the case and should never be used as an indicator of a good pill.

I could take an over the counter tablet - and within seconds change the taste / smell to indicate MDMA.

I know a lot of people will want to post that x pill smells like aniseed and they are great and I'm not for one second saying they don't or they are fake.

Pure MDMA crystals definately have a unique smell, almost chemically, they taste like they smell.

^ Sorry - Everything has its unique smell - glass - water - sand - MDMA etc. I'm simply stating that MDMA shouldn't / doesn't have to smell like aniseed.

aha yeah i see what your saying. i personally dont do pills just crystals. But im guessing whatever the pill is made with is making it smell like that. Could be anything

It can be deliberately added by the presser to 'trick' users / a certain ingredient could also be added (that gives a 'that' smell) to trick test kits.

Haha really? Can people actully do that?

so when you do the chemical tests it comes up purple/black or whatever, even though it doesnt contain MDMA?

Thank god i dont do pills anyway lol.

could contain a very small amount of mdma to fool tests,

The aniseed smell is due to impurities present during the process of synthesis. It could also mean that Safrole has been added. Safrole is known to fool the Marquis reagent test. While it is a good indication, it does not mean that the smell has to be aniseed. I've held Molly that didn't have the aniseed smell but was one of the best I have consumed.

I've had MDMA that smelt slightly of fish. Methylene content was too high, apparently. It was still really good shit though.

Means the chemist probably used or produced in-situ methylamine and didn't wash it thoroughly afterwards. Gross.

When the UK pill market went to shit quite a few of the weak ones smelled strongly of aniseed. I wouldn't use smell as any indicator of quality.

anything that smells like Fish or pee will more than likely be a Cathinone! probably (BK-MDMA...)

I feel like you've got plenty of good answers, and more feedback is likely (and already) leaning towards guessing contents based on smell- we discourage this, as reagent test kits are the only way to determine what your pills contain.

The other thing on this - please do not post 'how' to make / pills so they smell/taste like MDMA etc.
