Basically:
How long does it take to start working?
How long does it last? And
How much does it take to cross the BBB? Is 24mg enough?

Blood brain barrier? Might as well be trying to cross over into another corporeal realm. That shits clunky as fuck. Try quinine maybe? I've heard that might work... and no, 24 mg isn't gonna do much other than stop a large majority of wd symptoms if you are dependant. Sorry about that. Starts to work at about 30 mins after taking it.

Yeah, staying out of withdrawal is the main goal.

From what I've read on here, I think I process loperamide a bit differently from many others. I find it takes a long time to start working (2 hours or more). I also find that I don't get increasing therapeutic effects when taking more. I don't seem to get much more help from 40+mg than I do from 12mg, except the larger the dose the more lethargy I feel the following day.

That's the other thing - does anyone else get crushing lethargy from lope?

Not just the lethargy that is typical of opiate WDs, but a feeling of reduced lung capacity and being short of breath, heavy, and lightheaded if I stay upright for more than a few minutes. And while it is useful in reducing the daytime restlessness and anxiety from WDs, it does not help me to sleep (despite the lethargy) or lessen RLS.

Sorry - didn't mean to hijack the thread, but perhaps this info may be useful in some way.

I think it takes up to 4 hours to peak.

How long does it last? And
Quite awhile, 18 hour half life.

Don't try to force it through BBB, that's mostly anecdotal stuff, and that's how people end up dying from it (trying to get high).

24mg will not produce any high, but it will stop some of the withdrawal symptoms. From the literature I've read, it becomes cardiotoxic above 40mg per day. From reports of other members here, 40-60mg seems to be the sweet spot in terms of stopping withdrawal and staying in the realm of safety.

Please be careful with this.

The amount required to cross the BBB puts you at serious risk of sudden cardiac arrest. I know someone whose heart stopped from 80mg.

Many years ago I took up to 200mg at times, and it Messed. Me. UP. (double vision, staggering, puking, etc.)

It took 3-5 hours to kick in, left me impaired for up to 48 hours, and the withdrawal lasted for friggin' WEEKS. Don't do it!!!

I'm very lucky to be alive.
