Okay so John tried concerta (prescribed) for the first time today. He did some reading and (incorrectly) thought it would be fine to chew up 4 18mg caps (72mg) and take them for a good first dose.

It was probably one of the most intense drug experiences hes ever had. It was alot like coke for him, including the comedown :/

The question/issues he has have to do with his heart. It was beating like crazy the whole time and still kind of is... he wants to do another (much smaller dose 18mg) and do some djing but is worried his heart will go crazy again. What advice do you have?

The whole time he was originally high he could hardly do anything his heart was beating so hard :( was this a small overdose? At some points his limbs got tingly and stuff.

Stop referring to yourself in the third person - especially if you're using legally prescribed medication for fuck's sake.

Anyway, dosing questions should be directed to Basic Drug Discussion :)

You definitely ought to take it easy with the stimulants. That is a HUGE dose for someone with no tolerance.

As you're well aware, this stresses your heart and causes your blood pressure to spike, which stresses the rest of your body and circulatory system as well. Taking more will likely just increase your heart rate and other symptoms you experienced before.

OP, you should be fine if you take your prescribed dose. For a start, that was a large dose you took with no tolerance. Secondly, I imagine some amount of tachyphylaxis (rapid tolerance) is going to set in if you take it as you are meant to the day after and you won't experience such side effects and may even have a diminished therapeutic effect.

Basically, take your meds like they are Rx'd.

^What these people said, your prescribing medical professional prescribed you your dosage for a reason.

If the prescribed dosages don't work the way they should, speak with your prescriber.

Use to get this way when i first discovered 70mg vyvance:) It sucks huh? All you can do is think about your heart beating too fast. Best thing to cure that DONT take that much again or untill you get a tolerance. Also i noticed if you try to ignore it by distracting yourself it will go away. I think it mostly mental with people
