I've recently started to sip a lot of codeine cough syrup and I usually dose 300mg which is a buzz i definately feel. I sip about twice a week which will probably escalate as well as my dose. I would like to know what kinda short term and long term effects i may experience as i am new to chronic use of this drug. I sometimes experience respiratory depression and a strong 'nodding' effect. Should i slow down? I'm really enjoying the feeling and i think i might increase my dosage this weekend or next week. Any advice?

you could start taking more, but I wouldn't recommend it, just like any other opiate you are going to build up your tolerance and shit is going to hit the fan when you run out. ask anyone. WD's suck.

If you take codeine twice a week consistently you can expect withdrawals upon discontinuation, so yes, you should slow down to maybe once every 1 or 2 weeks, preferably more. Nodding by itself isn't dangerous, but its is a sign that your dosage is getting close to dangerous levels and that you should use caution. I would not recommend increasing your dose by more than 50 mg at a time, or mixing it with alcohol, benzodiazepines, or any other downers. Also, how much respiratory depression have you noticed? Is it getting to the point where you need to consciously remind yourself to keep breathing at a somewhat normal rate?

I get respiratory depression to the point where I have to remind myself to breathe for a while and then kina automatically breathing heavy. It's scary. And I've been taking it a lot recently. And I've taken it at about an average of a little more thank twice a week maybe for 3 weeks and took it last yesterday. Should I start to detox if I don't want w/d?

If you stop using now, which I believe would be the prudent thing to do in this case, you may get some mild w/d symptoms, but nothing too bad. Additionally, if you want to keep your codeine dosage within safe levels I would recommend taking at least 5 days in between doses as well as not raising your dose if at your current dose your are experiencing moderate to severe respiratory depression, which it seems that you are.

I think the w/d started.. Im getting moderate pain around my body and muscle spazms and dilated pupils.. Anxiety too... Should i ve worried.. Should i Just take a small dose

Nah don't worry at all, opiate w/d literally never kills or harms anyone at your level of usage. Take some meds like aleve(naproxen) for the aches and immodium(loperamide) for the diarrhea, if you have any. It's really best to take breaks from opiates, and taking a dose large enough to lesson your w/d symptoms will only stop the rate at which your tolerance decreases.
