Not your average muscle relaxer, Soma was a certain liquid offering intended for use within ancient vedic ritual, very heavily associated with Indra (god of war and storms) and Soma - Its namesake. (god of wisdom and the moon)

Scholars do not know the true composition of this holy liquid offering, but most of the authorities agree on one of the species of Ephedra - a true 'ethenogen' capable of unleashing qualities and abilities within the individual that they otherwise could not channel. In a world without knowledge of coffee, this would've been a novel thing. To but it bluntly: yes, the ancient Indians were spiking their juice with speed long before there was a word for 'speed-freak' on the block.

My question for you is thus, would you consider your own follies and forays into Bacchic trance and ecstatic ritual under the influence of speedy substances to be somewhat of a spiritual successor to these ancient practices? Mind you that ritual and cult were upheld as a social phenomenon in order to maintain civic order (to quite literally 'keep the cosmic gears turning) - so personally believing in the gods is irrelevant.

Nah man, it was just me getting high as balls....

I found myself finding spirituality later in life, in aspect antithetical to drug use. I don't try to mix the two.

I did a lot of drugs looking for God and never found him until he told me to stop using them.

I blame the government for drug prohibition thereby setting psychedelic research back 50 years. All because the government feared the truth and loss of control.

Yes I think I use psychedelics to foray. But seems we are talking speed. I read about Soma possibly being ephedra. Maybe Dale Pendell in one of his books. wrote about it Soma has caused a lot of speculation. But I do think everyone that does whatever drug follows in this tradition of simply altering their consciousness. Makes me wonder why baseline consciousness is so boring.
