Social vs. Solitary Drug Use

low self-esteem, anxiety are 2 that can cause one to be a loner. And drugs do screw with neurological systems that affect behavior.

I was tired, also I hate debating with people who can never concede. Here, I meant people who can't concede that solitary use can often lead to problems.

The article mostly points that using drugs alone is an indicator and not a cause for other unhealthy behavior.
 
I dunno, people have always told me that if you drink by your self you will be an alcoholic, well I have numerous times and I am not one yet.

I guess the same could be applied to <insert drug name here>.

There are defintely substances that make you more sociable and less sociable, so taking them on your own might actually be beneficial to you because you can realize the full potential of the <substance> in question.

i also heard that if you smoke the maryganja whilst alone, you will become introverted (antisocial). but if you smoke the doja with friends more so than less, you become more social......
 
I've done lots of drugs by myself and with other people..and I fit into about 1 of their three categories.

Maybe these "lone users" had a traumatic child hood or something, and therefor use drugs to cope with it. Maybe they would be worse off without the drugs. Who's to say?

It's correlations wrapped in fancy packaging, manipulative wording, and a terrible government tract record on truthiness.

Not like these war mongers care anyways. They'll probably just cut free mental health counseling, increase the prison budget, and kill some more families to secure the precious oil.

sometimes i like nothing more than to chill in my room by myself, smoke a few bowls, and listen to music or watch tv or something. does that make me a introverted loner??? i think not...
 
also, for the record, i achive prety high marks and am a generally well adjusted young adult attending a university
 
I wonder whether they actually asked the students what they thought? Do they think they are loners? Im sure almost all would tell that they do engage in socialization as well. It is never black and white!

I dont see how they could lump the lone drug users with all the drugs. they say that they smoked this many cigarettes, had this many drinks, and smoked this much pot. But i highly doubt most 8th graders would be doing all of them, rather one of them would be a smoker, another would like to drink, and another would smoke pot.

I hate these studies. they are just so generalized

Hmm....I'm trying to crack this nut that the Rand Corporation has fed the public... what is their motive? Ah! THey're trying to socialize the fuck out of us so we no longer have our own thoughts! Yay!
 
Oh yeah... is it really solitary if a person's posting on forums/chatting via IM etc. while doing it? Good question, huh... they're still socializing at least to the extent that talking on the phone would be. Hard to know where to draw the line when it comes to that kinda thing. IMO it's NOT solitary if there's socializing going on, even if it's not 'in person'. Maybe not as rewarding, but it's not isolating either.
 
Everyone is talking about how the lone drug users are more likely to be isolated. am i the only one who read the whole article? it says lone drug users are more likely to go to parties and date, then again from an organization like this that could just as easily be as bullshit as the rest i personally feel adolescents who know what they are doing can be safer doing drugs alone. there is less chance of look how much i can do dicksizing and sometimes u hav 2 be able 2 sit in peace to feel the full effects of a drug and fully respect it.

I think it is the reason the substance is used is basically what they were saying. Wonder how much they got paid for that revelation?8)
 
I dunno if it's so true. I smoke weed by myself all the time and am the perfect specimen of a human being!

No, everyone should do the exact same thing, and should all look and act the same. That way things will be especially harder for those who want to make society better.
 
I smoke dope more on my own than I do with friends. I guess its because I like to do something constructive when I'm stoned like work on my music or my art portfolio and when I smoke with my friends this isn't really possible. But I dont prefer to smoke on my own. There's nothing better than blazing up a few joints with your friends and then flaking out for the night:)
 
I smoke squares socially. Weed is done socially and at times by myself. If I smoke by myself, I get as high as possible. If I smoke by myself I do everything I had always thought about doing, like eating the things I love, or listening to my choice of music. I take adderall with my good friend during school, or just by myself to help me with school. Drinking is only done socially. I find doing things alone allows you to make the most of any experience. You can't go wrong doing the things you enjoy doing.
