this is actually an older story. I remember reading about this last year though it was a more complete story. I can't remember if the story said that it was for sure or not that people put them in there, forgot, and sold the game and the people bought the game....though, if my memory serves me right, i remember reading the pills were in the case on the front flap where the instruction booklet is.
the first one is the most likely explanation....i really don't know why the dad would pull something like that unless he plans to sue the game store.
i was also thinking this too, but why would they decide to put them in a game? what's the trouble with keeping them in your pocket? lol
i love how in the article the dad says, "he plays racing games, and those have Mitsubishi's in them as well, so he might have thought they were something fun - like sweets."
I know it's possible for really young kids to make mistakes like that, but this kid is 12 years old...with the DARE cops pounding this into kid's heads at God knows what grade now, most kids (esp 12 year olds) would know that it was a drug...I don't know if it's because it has been too long of a time for a parent to remember what it was like to be that age or what....but i know that at that age, i'd be able to process in my head that it's not right and it's drugs....i even knew what ecstasy was at a younger age because of the DARE program and that was 7+ years...who knows how young they're starting them at now.
And even if the kid missed out on dare and is a complete idiot and ended up thinking they were sweets.....he wouldn't pop them like pills, what kid does that with anything you're supposed to chew? there'd be no point to it.....so he would take one bite down and spit it out....we all know how foul tasting those pills can be.

I think that maybe they did t keep the pills in their pocket because they thought that their boss might check them. I mean irrational paranoia is far from unheard of with people that are carrying drugs, shit i mean, they coulda been high for all we know. I'm just putting myself in the situation of somebody that would feel the need to hide pills in a game case like that, the person I find my self in the place of is a stoned and paranoid worker.
Also, a parent buying that game for their 12 year old son? Seem a bit irresponsible to me...

lol, i totally didn't catch the fact that this happened in the UK, but i'm sure they have some type of drug education class or a drug section in their health classes. idk though, anyone have an answer?
and why was this moved to the social thread? if anywhere it should be in the "drugs in the media" forum.
EDIT: there is a UK DARE program that has been around since 1994.

I hid molly in the spines of CD cases among other things to try and deter myself from taking it. I've still been finding molly in spines of my CD cases even up to this day. As much as I wish I could take responsibility for putting e in that GTA game, I've never owned an xbox =(

jack in the box rulez. There's one we always stop at on our way out to Defcon in vegas. I'm heading out there in just a couple days (actually about 24 hours from this very minute). I'm super excited I'm going to get FUCKED the hell up

IMHO i think las vegas for anyone under 21....unless you're well stocked with a good variety such as in fear and loathing %)

rollin_stoned is right. Vegas sucks when you're under 21. Defcon XIII was cool because it was still at the Alexis Park and not on the strip, so the fun police weren't in full force (why, at the AP they weren't really in any force at all -- i was doing lines of blow off lawn tables in front of the polls. Was a good time
).I'd suggest just looking for an 18+ nightclub that plays music you like. I'm sure there are plenty in vegas =) I'll see what I can find out while I'm out there. Some of the vegas kandi ravers came out to the black & white ball (our "rave" techno thing at defcon) last time I went and we all partied down
