Social anxiety medicine

Well I suffer from pretty bad social anxiety and I've been on Prozac, buspirone, paxil, and abilify and none of then seemed to help except the abilify helped with the paranoid delusions and paranoia in general but has not helped me with my anxiety.
It has effected my life greatly and the only medicine that has gotten rid of my anxiety and made me feel normal was xanax. I've tried it a couple of times nd never got a high just felt normal. My pyhcaatrist said he doesn't want to give me medicine like bentos or beta blockers because of the addiction potential and my past drug use. So what I want to know is how would I convince my doctor that I do really need benzo to treat my social anxiety? I've told him it effects how I live and it effects my work(won't go into details). Should I tell him about my panic attacks I get every so often?
If you are perscribed beta blocker, benzos, or anything other then ssri or buspirone I would like to know how it helped you and the process of how you got perscribed thank you.

I'm sorry, but we can't answer these types of questions on how to get your doctor to prescribe you medications. Your doctor is very smart for not preescribing you benzos. In the long run they only add to the anxiety and can cause an addiction as well. These kind of drugs should also be given to you by a doctor so they can address any concerns you have and observe how you're handling the meds. You can find some advice from other people that are coping with their own anxieties as well as share your story there. Just pleae be mindful of the forum guidelines in The Dark Side.
