Even though my tolerance is so high, and smoking opium would have no effect on me, i do grow poppies, just out of the enjoyment. I dont put them in full sunlight, i use partial shade because i am in southern california, and full sun will kill the plant fast. I have about 40-50 in the lettuce stage, all in partial shade. I also have about twelve in the lettuce stage in my closet under flourescent lights. I dont have much acetic anhydride left, but I may consider doing a morphine isolation followed by a heroin conversion from my crop. And micheal, its not your place to say that I should stop doing drugs, despite my tolerance, and i do not shoot oxycontin with any regularity (like i used to).

hey, you can die for all i care. besides the fact that i didn't tell you to stop doing drugs, just that if i had to shoot some ungodly amount of oc to get high that i would.

Nice thread, michael, I hope your plants turn out well. What kind of seeds did you use, I hear that Mcormick brand seeds yield Tasmanian flowers which are supposedly both potent and quick to mature. I really want to start growing some poppies of my own, but alas, I live in a dorm. Keep us updated on how it all goes. Oh and if you need more info you should check out www.overgrow.com. There is a really cool thread there that I used to drool overr where some guy made a photo journal of his opium harvesting endevour and then mixed the refined opium with equal parts bubble hash..... It's a wonderful thread. I would also recommend Jim Hogshire's book Opium for the Masses. It has a lot of info on growing and using opium.

true. poppies like the sun, as much of it as possible, but i noticed in the high heat mine wilted a bit. texas would probably be one of the places you could plant in the fall and harvest early in the year - i have heard of growers in alabama and georgia who do this.

Thanks for the good info. I'm in Texas an going to embark on a garden, since it does get like 200 degrees here for like 10 months out of the year (i'm exaggerating of course) i was thinking to sow in mid november (when the risk of being over 75 is diminished) and possibly again in early spring. We hit eighties by april or no later than may.

i will leave debating the merits of the usefulness of growing poppies or the efficacy of poppy tea to others. if you have nothing constructive to add besides denigrating the drug choices of others then i suggest you take up a nice peaceful hobby (like growing poppies) to occupy your time.

Thank you for saying that. I'm not looking to get wasted out of my mind. I'm a stay at home mome and after my kiddos are in bed i like to relax and unwind with my husband with poppy tea. The mild tranquilizing effects are EXACTLY what i want.
