Tripman I can see how taking so many pills would be annoying, particularly if one was forced to be constantly filling standard sized diazepam scripts to match such a habit, however diazepam does seem to be the benchmark for tapering a benzodiazepine addiction and there must be some reason for this. Obviously the potency of clonazepam presents a problem when it comes to reducing small percentages of low to moderate doses on a regular basis, one could switch to diazepam when their tolerance got low enough but I think it is probably ideal to use the one benzo to taper rather than switch between benzos at different stages in the taper as it would be impossible to fully account for incomplete cross tolerance.
I am really not an expert on benzodiazepine addiction or tapering and I could be wrong, either way good luck in getting off the benzos again as they are a nasty habit to have.
The-Future, it is hard to say if you would have developed a physical addiction, some people get the mquicker than others and I am not sure about clonazepam but have definately read that supposedly alprazolam withdrawal symptoms can appear after 7 or 8 days of dosing. As clonazepam has a considerably longer half life I do imagine a habit would take longer to develop but a month is obviously quite a bit longer than just over a week. Any withdrawal you experience should not be anywhere near a dangerous level but if you struggle with it you could try being honest with your doctor and seeing if he will write out a script or two of diazepam with a tapering program.
