So I already have my mind set on trying acid and before I try it would like to know what's it like. Also how much I should take and how I should do it and what kind of setting should I do it in also how long does the effect last and when do effects kick in?

Very basic questions.

You could look at erowid
Or if you have questions about any drug google '[name of drug] big and dandy'

Setting : safe, somewhere you feel comfortable, no parents, no people that will mess with your head, not a party

Takes anywhere from 20/30 mins to an hour to start kicking in, on an empty stomach is best.
About an hour after first effects it'll be more or less in full swing.

Lasts 6/8 - 12 hours, depending on dose, and depending on how you personally judge a trip to be over ( visual effects can linger after your head is more or less back to normal IME )
I've had big doses last 24 hours ( that was a microdot so... this is kinda unlikely )

How much to take ?

Wise choice would be 1/2 a tab and really see it through, ie don't redose ( thats mostly pointless anyway ) so you can get a feel for it.

Or a full tab if you're feeling up for it, but no more.

Whats it like ?
A fully fledged trip is almost impossible to put into words.
Think of being under thick water, everything bending and breathing, possible fractal type patterns on the edge of surfaces, a sense of whats happening being very significant or meaningful. Funny things are hilarious, scary things can be terrifying.

Really depends on the dose and you.

Just take good care of yourself, don't worry as such, but do yourself a favour when choosing a setting and bear in mind that you'll be vulnerable and easy to manipulate, it might be impossible to pretend your straight.

People trip because its enjoyable, but respect it, its so vastly different to weed and booze, speed etc.

erm....think that'll do ya.
Anymore can be found by looking up the things i mentioned above. But reading can only tell you so much and keep an open mind anyway.

One last tip. Swallow the tab straight away dont hold it in cheeks or under you toungue (? can never spell that word ) , this rules out being sold NBOME as acid ( in case you didnt know NBOMEs are pretty risky but not active orally )

if you "start getting the fear" the best thing to do is just tell yourself to accept it for what it is, relax and give in to the drug, don't fight it, dont try and regret it or be scared, just give in and observe it, let it do what it will with you and take you where it may, as soon as you give in to the drug and remember that your are not going to die and your brain will go back to normal....you should be fine....

these are the most important things to remember

I feel like maybe I should just copy and paste the relevant TiHKAL section here:

DOSAGE : 60 to 200 micrograms, orally

DURATION : 8 - 12 hrs

QUALITATIVE COMMENTS : In the case of LSD, it seems presumptuous to attempt to select typical comments for quotation. Literally thousands of reports are in the literature, from early exploratory research, to clinical applications for treatment of autism, of alcoholism, or mental illness, to assisting in psychotherapy and in the dying process, to the adventures of the military in both intelligence and chemical warfare, to innumerable anecdotal tales of pleasure and pain. Dozens of books have been devoted to these topics.

LSD is a long lasting serotogenic psychedelic lasting anywhere from 14-24 hours with a long peak, plateau, and comedown.
You will most likely experience a profound cognitive shift and body load, as well as visuals ranging from light-completely immersive. It's possible to have an entheogenic/visionary experience but it's not always part of an LSD trip. Especially not if you aren't inclined to believe in such things; in that case its more like to be interpreted as an intense meditative or interpersonal catalyst.

Look into every thread about the psychedelic experience/LSD here on bluelight that you can find. Go to erowid and read every piece of information they offer.

Next time you have a question make sure to use the search function or google.

Screw that. Just do it like everybody else did. There was no internet to ask back when I tried it. j/k

The best way is to just do it and figure it out on your own.

Mentioned empty stomach above. While that may make for better effects. You don't want to do that the first time. You won't eat for a good while after you drop. So fill up.

Good friends, that you trust and are comfortable with, to share the experience.

And a safe place to go, where you wont be interrupted by real life problems.

Swallow your blotter, so you don't inadvertently take Nbome.

It never hurts to keep some antipsychotics like seroquel around. Also benzos like xanax or even etizolam are great if you cant get any benzos off the street and have no script. Sometimes just having that plan B soothes me when I'm deep, don't take them as soon as anxiety strikes though. Many trips start out shaky but tend to drop off into bliss.

^
I dunno about that.
The easy availability of rc benzos has made some people view them as essential. Recommending the use of physically addictive, potentially life ruining drugs has always seemed a bit iffy to me.
Just be careful with the acid dose and going into it knowing it might get overwhelming seems a better approach.
RC benzos werent around when I was starting to trip and I, and everyone else, survived.

It's really hard to describe the effects, especially the changes in your thinking. Visuals are a bit easier and you have a few videos on youtube, for example:

it's not really 100% accurate but it'll give you a small taste.

The effects are also described here:

I think having some benzos around is a good idea, just knowing you have them will reduce the chances of a bad trip. And if you use them just for bad trips addiction won't be a problem, just don't start taking more and more often. Of the rc benzos I'd recommend etizolam because it kicks in quick and removes fear while preserving most of the other effects of lsd (talking about normal doses obviously, 1 mg or so with no tolerance). But of course a proper set and setting + careful dosing come first, the benzos are just for an emergency.

"I have no idea where we are going, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange." (Dale Cooper, Twin Peaks)

That's what it is. At the same time extremely beautiful and intensely alienating. It's full of paradoxes. It's the most bizarre thing you'll ever experience, and at the same time the most "welcoming"/trusting feeling ever.

That's what it's like for me anyway.

I think it's a mistake to think of it as only witnessing the effects, you very much experience them emotionally, rationally and irrationally as well so when things appear distorted it also distorts how you are affected by it. Thoughts and feelings may become much more intense or mixed together, you may lose control or overview because we normally try to make sense of what happens and make it consistent with what we previously thought or felt about things / the world. The rate at which you lose this consistency may be related to how strongly you pictured the world before and most of all... how strongly you need a constant image of things to be able to relate to your sense of self.

It helps a lot to realize that your sense of self (while rooted in continuous characteristics that make your personality) is actually quite fluid and it is okay to let go.

People who tend to let go of that naturally are likely not to be confused by being forced to let go of such things, but eventually it IS best if you do let go.

The 1st and 3rd videos are pretty accurate. The 2nd and 4th ones are complete bullshit and are obviously based on the imaginings of people who have never tried psychedelics at all.

^ so true. My first trip was an ego-shattering 1/8 oz of cubes, and though this thread is about acid, this above statement is useful for advice on a trip from most classic psychedelics. The tripping state of mind really takes down all the mental barriers we build up and all the supposed security that was have in our reality is lost for a moment.

Sorry, was in a bit of a hurry and just posted anything that looked like it could be good from the first few s.
The one with the morphing face is my favorite, shows that effect really well, almost exactly how I see it sometimes.
And the fourth one starts fine but later just goes to wtf.
