So, my wife wants to smoke while pregnant...

Not a lot of studies on marijuana use during pregnancy, but it has been done. It appears the biggest risk in terms of birth defects with marijuana use is low birth weight or premature delivery.

Differences in brain activity, behavior, and sleeping patterns of infants and children exposed to marijuana in pregnancy have been reported in some studies. It is believed that these children may have more problems with attention, impulsive behavior, and academic performance. However, the evidence is far from conclusive as many of the studies report conflicting results.

The truth is, occasional use may be okay, but don't take my word for it. When my ex-fiance was pregnant, she quit smoking cannabis and so did I.

I read that those studies were done with people using multiple substances.......plus my wife has not asked me to quit. Yes, I understand it might be easier for her if I do, but I havent been smoking around her at all. I just take a little walk or a drive around the neighborhood, but I see where you are coming from. I just think I will wait until she suggest that I discontinue use.

Dude your wife is straight trippin. Maybe you should both stop, or at least dont smoke in front of her. She wont feel so bad.

Tell her pot or baby, choose one. Tell her she can smoke in 6 1/2 month. Ask her if its really worth it to her. Will she feel bad if the baby has some kind of defects? She has such little time to make this the BEST pregnancy, i would hope she does everything she can to bring your child good health. It's HER body yes, but its BOTH of your child!

yea i personally wouldn't risk it. like yu said yer wife is going to the be the one ultimately choosing. but for crying out loud, it's not ethical to get a fetus high, as it too would also be getting high...... i'd wait til the kid is like 16 lol.

she doesnt smoke or drink. takes a pregnancy multivitamin and eats healthy. the hormone's, she says make her extremely uptight (stressed), anxietal etc and she wakes up at 2:45am every night and cant go back to sleep. she throws up once a morning and she works 45 hours a week and she has had restless leg syndrome for last 4 weeks and doesnt yet have an appetite like she did before............she has decided NOT to smoke, but I got a feeling a lot of the finger pointing is being done by ignorant males, like myself, who dont know what it's like to be pregnant.

id think the working while pregnant would have a worse affect on he baby, nobody should work when they are pregnant, that obviously adds to the increased stress level,
hormones, on top of changing body,

its a shame though, i heard something like they test every mother for drugs at birth, and take away the body even if there is a positive for cannabis.

Definitely more research needs to be done on the subject, especially if there's a possibility it could help.

Smoking anything while pregnant is not advised. Although I gues sin moderation its fine. In anycase I think its better than smoking cigarettes.

Another way to look at this is that if you smoke weed, you probably smoke 2 or 3 in a day especially if you are pregnant. On the other hand if you smoke cigs instead, you will probably smoke a whole pack. Whats better is anyone's guess.

Smoking weed now could .... Produce a child with shitty ass memory .

That's just a guess . But who knows man.

It's not worth it just so ur wife can get high for a lil bit .

Think about the future of ur child mate .

What specific therapeutic benefits can marijuana provide for women? This first-of-its-kind book examines the therapeutic role of medical marijuana in women's medicine and its implications for fertility and maternal/child health. It includes treatises on many gender-specific conditions in obstetrics and gynecology as well as female-predominant medical conditions that are popularly treated with cannabis, such as multiple sclerosis. Women and Cannabis: Medicine, Science, and Sociology presents a broad, multidisciplinary view of this controversial issue with technical chapters exploring the role of cannabis and endogenous Cannabinoids in fertility and neonatal feeding and sociologically and anthropologically oriented chapters examining the role of cannabis in treating morning sickness and cocaine addiction, the latter based on a study of Jamaican women. It also assesses the effects of cannabis use in pregnancy in relation to the neuropsychological assessment of children whose mothers used marijuana while pregnant. Women and Cannabis: Medicine, Science, and Sociology provides you with informed discussions of: the historical uses of cannabis in obstetrics and gynecology the way that the body's endogenous cannabinoid system functions as a trigger for suckling in newborns the effect of clinical cannabis on hyperemesis gravidarum, a debilitating ailment characterized by severe nausea and vomiting, malnutrition, and weight loss during pregnancy the consequences of marijuana use during pregnancyùfor women and their unborn children the potential of cannabis to aid in harm reductionùfrom a nursing perspective medical hashish production using the Pollinator and Ice-O-Lator devicesùand the benefits of using cannabis in this form using cannabis as part of a combined treatment for Tourette Syndrome and more!

See PM !

Don't listen to uneducated scare tactics from people. The only problem is, it's hard to get that kind of empirical data in the US because marijuana is illegal. From my experience there are alot of studies on Jamaican mothers. Do your own research and make your own decision. Long story short, I personally dont believe it can cause any significant damage in early pregnancy before the fetus's brain is fully developed WHEN DONE IN MODERATION. I would refrain from it completely later on just to be safe and especially that most of those symptoms will go away. It will alleviate most if not all of her symptoms for now and probably causes less damage than pharmceuticals or anything else considering she can't take anything but tynelol. Be prepared to quit with her because it will make it easier for her as well. Congratulations!

My wife smoked a joint every night while pregnant and my child is beautiful healthy and smart.
I see nothing wrong with this and in fact, i recommend it. It also might help with morning sickness and any other nausea related to pregnancy.

I think if she uses it as medicine to make her life more comfortable than it is probably no worse (probably better) than taking a pharmaceutical. Also, I've known a few women who vaped occasionally while pregnant and their babies are great. Just what I've seen.

Also, if she wants to quit, you should to. Be supportive man.

I doubt it would hurt your child, but if you want to be 100% sure then don't. But IMO she'd be fine. Fuck all of these people judging you.

I Totally think you child will be fine, I base this on absolutely nothing as I am not a doctor/scientist. Neither is anybody else posting in this thread.

All opinions = void

My opinion is valid because I know first hand. Smoking anything isnt great for expecting mothers but a good vaporizer session never hurt anyone...even those who are not alive yet.

If your woman is feeling especially terrible tell her to take a bath and smoke a joint(or vape).
It will help.

Don't let her smoke.

Yeah it's herb but she's pregnant and you don't want your future kid or kids if you have twins to be exposed to smoke and THC.

Why can't she just wait until after she has the baby?
