im 5'10 and only 113pounds! and losing....

im not so happy with seeing bones sticking out every which way,and i dont have a very big appetite-i eat junk food mainly and have never excercised! my metabolisim must be in overdrive, cos i cant seem to gain any weight.ive even been drinking weight gain crap from the health food store,it doesnt help :(

any ideas???

<D.A.R.E. speech>Stop smoking meth...YES..two thumbs up on that.
There is NOTHING you can do to your body that can be worse than this drug, IMO...I know you dont wanna hear that, but this drug destroys your brain. It RUINS people. OKay. </D.A.R.E. speech>

Anyways...if you want to put weight on I recommend a lot of carbs..lots of bread..pizza..pasta..Ive put on a few pounds from working at a pizza parlor. :)

This is the saddest thing I've read in a while twinklebabe. Nevermind being underweight, you must be suffering from serious malnutrition if all you ever eat is junkfood. You could stop smoking meth like Semi-Charmed recommended, but I'm sure you know that is the obvious solution to your problem.

If you're going to keep smoking meth, I recommend learning how to force yourself to eat when the thought of food is nauseating. Some really good, cheap ways to stop yourself from losing weight while smoking meth:

Drink the sugariest shit you can as much as possible. Never drink water, drink kool-aid or fruit juice or something. If you like iced tea, you can make homemade iced tea with the cheapest generic teabags boiled in a big pot on your stove. Melt a shitload of sugar into it and store it in your fridge. Drink a gallon of really sweet iced tea a day and you'll have a hard time not at least maintaining your weight. Just make sure to brush your teeth at least 3 times a day.

Start putting cheese all over everything. Especially vegetables. I find I can eat stuff like onions and green peppers, carrots, olives, tomatoes... all sorts of juicy vegetables, a lot easier than I can eat starchy or glutinous vegetables/grains when I'm not hungry or on anorexic drugs. A tomato and cheese sandwich with extra cheese is going to be a lot of calories, and isn't going to seem nearly as intimidating when you are anti-hungry.

Start putting olive oil all over everything.

Start eating more vegetables and fruits. Make fruit salads, garden salads, steamed veggies as much as possible. They are lower in calories than junkfood, but they don't fill you up for very long. It's easier to snack on fruits and veggies all day than potato chips and pretzels when you're on meth.

Avoid anything like potatoes, rice, bread, beans, greasy meat, and any deep fried foods. It's not that they're unhealthy for you, but at least in my experience, if I'm not hungry I'm more apt to take a few bites out of something like that and be unable to finish the meal. My stomach seems to feel full for a lot longer after a meal like that too.

Last but not least, stop wasting money on weight gainers, haha, they're a complete ripoff. The main priority in your diet ought to be, besides getting plenty of vitamins and minerals, eating calorie-dense foods. The more calories per serving and the less filling the food seems, the better.

notDeja, yeah but you don't smoke meth! I can never force myself to eat something like pizza when I'm tripping or on stimulants... maybe I can eat the cheese and toppings off hahaha.

Twinklebabe are you on meth constantly?

I mean do you go on binges or is this a steady addiction for you?

If its not steady, you could just be sure to load up on calories and healthy food when you are not on the stuff and make sure you are not on it more than a couple days a week or something..thats what I used to do back in my (ick) crack rock days. :\

Put olive oil on every thing you eat. Also drink 2-3 glass of milk a day. Also eat lots of cream and peanut butter.

its not an "addiction" but i do it often enough.

ive never been a huge eater, and my family is made up of stick figures hah ive always had trouble putting weight on even before when i never smoked.hell even when i smoked pot lots ( years ago) and had the munchies constistantly-i was a stick.

i know stopping smoking will help, and its not that i have to do it, but its something to do,and as a non smoker/drinker i dont think its a bad thing,i spend no more on meth then my friends do each week partying and smoking ciggs.infact i probably spend considerably less!

i DO put cheese on everything.
i DO eat lots of sugars and fatty foods.
i DO eat veggies ( at least 2 servings a day)
i DO eat lots of bread and potatoes, and yeah i notice it fille me up too.
and damnit i ate pizza and wedges last night for dinner!!!
i drink about 3 glasses of milk every day, either in the form of those flavoured milk/breakfast things,or with weight gain crap mixed with it.

might ask the doc tomorrow too...

thanks heaps :)

btw im not malunourished!!! i spend about $150 a week on food!!!! i was just pointing out that i do not have a healthy eating habit or am a gym junkie.

oh an di dont drink water, only ribena ( extreamly high in vitiman c) and orange juice, coke etc.

i have always had weight gain issues, and its only getting worse because im smoking, even if i stopped, id still be a stick.the only time ive ever put on weight, strangly enough was last year when i spent 3 months in japan eating mainly rice, and udon soup, maccas every now and then, and drinking a fuck load of dom perigion. but i hate drinking, and id hate to have to drink that much alcohole just to put on a few kilos.

arghh this is fustrating!!!

Malnourishment doesn't have to refer to the amount of food you eat - it's also about the quality of the food. If you're eating mostly junk food then you're probably deficient in all sorts of vitamins.

I say enjoy being thin now because you'll probably pack the weight on when you give up meth :)

eat lots of fatty foods.. fat has almost twice as many calories per gram as protien or carbohydrates. shahab6 listed some good fatty foods.

You seriously ought to consider cutting down on your drug use if you find it difficult to eat enough food. If you are constantly losing weight, it is likely you are not getting enough nutrients for your body to be healthy. Loading up on calorie dense foods isn't going to make you healthier, just weigh more. You need to eat a variety of foods, and the healthiest ones tend to not have many calories per serving; fruits and vegetables have lots of fiber which fills you up without providing any calories.

yeah, nah but i wont.

giving up meth wont make me put on weight, i know that. i might gain a kilo,if that, i have never been more then 57kgs,going on different birth control pills never made me put on weight, eating fatty foods as i have done most of my life never caused ANY weight gain, smoking pot and eating heaps never helped either.

im at a loss me thinks :(

protein, fats, complex carbs. There's no easy solution to putting on weight like 'put cheese on everything'...you just need to eat more, full stop. Figure out what your daily caloric intake is, and add 1000, 1500 calories to that - make sure you're getting some meat in there. Eat regularly, even when you don't need to, get 5 or 6 meals a day if you can, spread out evenly. Try some light weights if you'd like. Eat, eat, eat. The worst thing you could do would be follow other people's advice and eat shitloads of crappy food - you don't need a high saturated fat diet to put on weight, you just need MORE food.

You'll be far healthier and feel much better if you get that extra 1000 calories by eating lean red meats, chicken, vegetables, rice, pasta etc. (make sure you're getting everything) than more junk food like pizza or an assload of cheese.

just a unit of measurement - kilojoules if we're talking metric. from dictionary.com: A unit of energy-producing potential equal to this amount of heat that is contained in food and released upon oxidation by the body. Also called nutritionist's calorie.

You don't need to know that, though...basically, everything you eat will give you a certain amount of energy, or has the potential to. If you want to put on weight, find out how much you're taking in per day, roughly, and add 1000 or so calories on to that - basically, just eat one or two more meals than you normally would in a day :) search around the internet, there are heaps of resources for measuring your caloric intake and shit, but really, you don't need to know how it works as long as you know the principle...

Eat more than you usually do. Sounds simple, but it's not. You've gotta work at it...eat, eat and eat. Like I said, some weights might also help if you feel like it, and try and get that extra food from healthy sources with plenty of good protein and not just saturated fats and simple carbs...
