So Bluelight runs no SSL/https, and also disallows access through Tor.

Wondering if anyone else had realised that this means every post and login is sent in plain text for your ISP or the owner of the network you're on, not to mention anyone who manages to man-in-the-middle *coughNSA/GCHQcough*, to read and see.

So why is Tor blocked? Can't sign up or login through it, isn't that a pretty huge security hole to leave open on a site full of druggies?

Who gives a fuck?

If you're posting anything incriminating here it's your own fault really. I can't imagine the powers that be have any interest in this site whatsoever, it's pretty tightly controlled as being directed towards harm reduction or meaningless chit-chat where drugs are concerned. No one's knocking out keys of chop via bluelight.

Quite. This is a Harm Reduction forum... perhaps with occasional nobs on. But mostly HR stuffs. The nobs you can get better elsewhere. Those are the TOR necessitated sites. This is not for the most part. I've never really used TOR so is of no relevance to me. Why would you give a shit?

It's rather fucking annoying when you get banned and you want to use to tor to set up another troll account and the cunts banned it :( (tor) have to get back to the gazillion other ways of doing so... ;)

ps: posted from a troll ip..

You expect privacy on a website where we all make posts for the public to read and potentially benefit from?

Yes, that's why I have never posted a pic of myself here and never will. That is why I don't use my full name here so on and so forth.

I can see why this can ben an issue, I mean who's to say this information won't be used against you? You can't enter the States if you've got a convtion or have disclosed you've done drugs in the past.

I mean, why would the NSA be an issue then? Everything is public in one way or another. You do have an ISP don't you? You do use e-mail, right?

Well yeah, obviously take necessary precautions. Post at your own risk and only things you're okay with the public knowing. And in my opinion that includes email addresses. If you used your primary email to sign up then you're probably putting even more of yourself out there for the public. I use a throwaway email myself.

Why wouldn't "they" use info I posted against me? Because for the most part that would be some pretty lame content with very little to grasp on from anyone trying to build up anything against me.

I highly doubt myself and many other Bluelighters are worth the work it takes for the NSA and your ISP to start handing things over and then working together.
Bluelight has some strict rules about sourcing, so really it protects us and the site by letting us have a place to visit, that won't go away, because it isn't doing anything wrong in the first place.

I can picture some posts getting people in deeper shit if they've been caught up in something illegal and their laptop was something that was seized with everything else. It definitely wouldn't look good, and that's why you post smart.
I'm positive BL has been used against people in the past.

I love the smugness from mods when ever this topic comes up.

Someone else mentioned it already. What if a person in the UAE (& I'm sure a fuck load of other countries) would like HR advice without potentially getting executed?

The desire for privacy doesn't solely belong to cunts in the UK trying to punt a gram of ket.

then they probably should know what a VPN is

you can still browse the site via TOR if im not mistaken

who's being smug about this?

we can't solve every problem and our focus is not on human rights violations and freedom of access in the middle east. what have you been doing to combat that problem, ptch?

this is, as with most issues, a question of where the line is drawn. we fight a constant battle against spammers, trolls and other parties who want to turn bl into a shitfest and a market for drugs. it's a clear danger to bluelight's mission and it's inevitable that the steps we've taken to address the issue will inconvenience some bl members, and potential members. that's the price we pay and it's where we've chosen to draw the line. you would draw the line in a different place? that's fine - you're entitled to that opinion.

The CIA run the internet, everyone knows that. You want privacy, stop relying on a keyboard for anything and everything.

I just made a post moaning about it on here, is that not enough?

That's fair enough I suppose.

I've got nowt to hide but just don't like the lack of privacy. Like I wouldn't let people come round and open my post.

This. Not in reference to Bluelight, just in general.
