my first (and quite unedited) poem of the new year, posted by request.

snow white

in all the hours i approached
your effortless perfection
the graceful beauty in stop time
strobed on the tips of my lashes
compelled to speak but too stunned to
the promise of lip's clasp broken
sweetness turn slowly to poison
come forward honest with question
hunger turning to hate
wrought into stone with the passion
not numb but insensate
still in the orchard in the arbor
maze overgrown (as i refuse to age)
consuming the entire estate
unpicked apple in winter
bending a weak bough
crowning the last tree
pronounces its absence
in a ruined room
in a poisonous place
fruit of the last blossom
encircled by frost
started to worry
when the last leaf fell.

I can't believe the rich complexity of this poem, like a million leaves in a tree, its overwhelming, too much to take in and to count, falls on me in layers like wind floating through autumn, and absolutely astounding, what a beautiful brilliant mind; and such treachery and sorrow intertwined with beauty, love wrought with poison apples, segue kisses into frost, unpicked apples in the winter.

Look forward to the final draft.
There is too much in there for me to try fathom right now but certainly worthy words.
