Sniffer dogs

my wallet has never caused me any problems walking past dogs. ive had mdma, coke, speed, ketamine and the lot in my wallet and surely spilt some along the way.

Well nothing is 100% guaranteed, but take two guys:

1) Has a baggie of pills in his pocket, hasn't washed his hands and has residue on them, has residue on his wallet

2) baggie of pills tightly wrapped multiple times, then put inside a condom, then taped in the crotch area, has washed meticulously and has no drug residue on his body or clothing.

Which do you think has the biggest chance of getting through safely?

Obviously nothing is 100%, but precautions can make the difference between having a great day and having your day ruined/potentially facing massive ramifications for your life and future.

exactly!

Speaking of wallets and money coming into contact with drug residue:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32450588/ns/business-personal_finance/

Traces of cocaine taint up to 90 percent of paper money in the United States, a new study finds.

A group of scientists tested banknotes from more than 30 cities in five countries, including the United States, Canada, Brazil, China, and Japan, and found "alarming" evidence of cocaine use in many areas.

U.S. and Canadian currency had the highest levels, with an average contamination rate of between 85 and 90 percent, while Chinese and Japanese currency had the lowest, between 12 and 20 percent contamination.

isnt that really old news? i remember reading an article years ago about all the money in the UK had traces of coke.

A few years ago I had my wallet swabbed at Melbourne airport. Was absolutely shitting myself because there had been shitloads of coke in the wallet in the previous couple of weeks.

Didn't remember until after I had been cleared that I had accidentally swam in the sea the week before with my wallet still in my pocket. Saltwater evidently is your friend.

Lucky ur wallet didnt contain any coke whilst ur were swimming lol Thats would of been a disaster:)

I have a theory that sniffer dogs probably react to pheromones produced by the human body when under stress or when in fear more then the drugs themselves ... in saying that a human element (as has been mentioned on here) by way of the dog trainer/controller giving subtle signals to a dog when they see suspicious behaviour is probably the main reason between being caught and waltzing through undetected .... your best bet is to chill and wait for the dogs to tire in the heat (during the summer fests) they can only operate them for 45 mins or so before they need a rest especially in temps over 30 ....

pretty good theory tbh. im certain a dog can be trained to pickup tiny signals that we show when under pressure.

it was also lucky that they were only testing for explosive residue and not narcotics! ;)

I've been in the same situation before! Shat myself. However I knew I didn't actually have anything on me at the time so even if it did show up, denial, could they actually do anything?

Just before stepping into the airport once I actually found a (empty) baggie in my pocket (post-pill sesh), that was a lucky find. Wouldn't wanna walk in with that in my pocket - no denying that one. lol.

They don't. Explosives only. Of course they are not going to tell us that though.

Actually that's not true, the two swabs are separate, one for explosives, one for drugs. I have been swabbed by both at the same airport metres apart.

2 swabs? There is only one test.

The main test done at most airports is indeed explosives, but some airports have more than one test in operation at a time, when this is the case, sometimes one is for explosives the other for drugs (but not always)

When there is only one test being carried out it is generally the explosives one

Which airports are you talking about? I fly regularly all over Australia and have never seen anything other than an ion scanner that only scans for explosives.

Are you talking international?

I have seen them both at Melbourne, Townsville and Brisbane domestic , I am also a regular flyer.

We should catch up for a coffee at an airport some time :) (actually at the airport now waiting for a flight)

The swabs/scanners look identical, just checking for different chemicals and deposits.

Dogs can't smell anything when there is coffee around. Put your drugs inside a larger pouch wih ground coffee in it, the dog will avoid it like the plague.
