For my personal power smoothie i put in 1 full ripe banana, 5 Srawberrys, 3 scoops of hemp protein, bunch of pineapple, and a splash or orange juice. Also 3 heaping scoops of bee pollen.

What do you use?

The only smoothie I've made that could be described as a "power smoothie" was made with one apple, a banana, a glass of OJ (ew.), a handful of fresh spinach (couldn't even taste it, I swear), and flax seed.

How is hemp protein powder btw? Which kind do you get? I've been debating if I should get it and have a smoothie every morning--I need to get more fruit, but protein (not fiber) is what keeps me full for hours.

one banana, loads of grapes, red currants, raspberrys, apples, some pure grapefruit juice, an orange,

Smoothie for Breakfasty Deliciousness:

2 ripe bananas
2-3 heaping tablespoons of shelled hemp seed
2-3 heaping tablespoons of bee pollen granules
Some water
Optional: 1 heaping tablespoon of almond butter

Bonus: this one often turns into a solid pudding if you do it right. Texture is so divine!!!

Smoothie for Health:

1 Green Apple
Lots of de-stemmed lacinato kale
Some water, salt
Optional: some avocado

Fresh Spinach (2-3 cups)
1 Apple (cored and sliced)
15 white grapes
1 cup vanilla soy milk
Truvia
Ice

1 cup ice cream
1 cup whole milk
4 heaping table spoons protein powder
1 heaping table spoon ground flax
frozen fruit of choice

Pretty much fills a pint glass to the top. delicious!

2 mangoes
1 cooking banana (the thick ones)
1 handful of holy basil
1 handful of betel leaves
i stalk of lemongrass
palm nectar

Shoot me if it isn't the best thing in the world!

I see a lot of people add bee pollen to their smoothies - just did some reading and a lot of it sounds like a sales pitch, but I was wondering if anyones noticed a difference when taking it? The stuff sounds pretty amazing if it's only half what it's cracked up to be.

It's amazing indeed. I get a noticeable energy boost from it.

i experiment with different fruits, but i always include wheat germ and plain yoghurt. i always freeze my fresh fruit too so that's more of a smoothie like consistency and use something like 100% apple juice, 100% pomegranate juice, or coconut milk as the "mixer". i got the idea to use apple juice much of the time when looking at the Naked brand labels - it's great as a liquid mixer.

my typical strawberry smoothie would look something like this:

1 - 1.5 cup of apple juice
1/2 cup yoghurt
2 tbsp wheat germ
handful of frozen strawberries (do not buy in freezer section since they add sugar)
1 frozen banana

Blenders are one of the best kitchen tools ever made! Not only good for protein/fruit shakes and stuff but also a good way to down a bunch of veggies at one time or add more nutrients to a soup by blending greens and then adding that back to the stock(if the blender itself can do so of course).

Here is a drink I like to make...

Red rooibos tea (chilled of course) as a base, a few tablespoons of hemp seeds(not the isolated protein, just the seeds themselves), a teaspoon or less of a batch of freshly ground flax seeds (otherwise they taste nasty for me), raw local-ish honey, and a good whey powder(I like Biotest's 'natural' flavor one, but I'm sure there are others processed just as well). Also, if I have any I add tocotrienols.... either from rice bran(white and malty) or palm fruit(tan and nutty), or both. I'm currently out though. If I really want it to be "secret power xxx" or whatever I'll take caps of really good mushroom supplements and open then and throw the powder in. I'm talking about adaptogens here, not the kind that make you see Buddha or anything.

Sometimes I blend everything first and add my whey in after on the top of my glass and stir it in a teaspoon at a time.... I have found it to taste better, with the particular whey I have been using. It's a pretty nice drink.

ah I forgot.. sometimes I add banana to the recipe above...

Some interesting ideas in this thread! My favourite is pretty boring in comparison: Banana (or 2 if small), a handful of ice cubes (they really thicken up & aerate the smoothie), a tablespoon of honey, a raw egg, ~ a cup of milk or soy milk, and some whey powder if I have some to hand.

I occasionally add some spirulina for a bright green smoothie =D

i hope i dont sound bonkers but i load shit up with a lot of fresh ginger,
i feel like it cleanses my whole digestive track from my mouth to my ass

i brought this up to my brother he said your nuts
im like your mouth and body doesnt feel all clean and tingly ?

it feels good :)

my favorite (or favourite, lol) smoothie

3 scoops muscle milk protein powder
2 scoops oatmeal
ice and a little water

blend and...BAM! delicious (or delicios) brekkie on the go

Smoothies and how about them?

First post to this forum: Community / Healthy Living.

With breakfast every morning, smoothies help a lot with energy levels throughout the day.

One of the things that I have every day is match green tea mixed with the smoothies.

Can anyone post some recipes or combinations of smoothies that are good for energy and for anytime of the day.

With evening smoothies does anyone have recipes or combinations that can help for relaxation and getting to bed.

Thanks for help with inspiration, energy and staying healthy.
