Benzos Smoking tobacco not enjoyable on benzos?

Hey everyone, an old buddy of mine would always tell me how he only liked to smoke cigarettes while on benzos (namely 2mg Klonopins). He would sit on my couch and puff away at his menthol cigarettes, and he would talk his ass off (benzos actualy make people rather annoying/impulsive IMO)

Anyhow, I never really experienced this desire to smoke on benzos...in fact, when I do smoke while on any kind of benzo I get LESS effect from the nicotine than I normally would. In some way it seems to block the effects of nicotine and I don't get a buzz/headrush AT ALL.

Do benzodiazepines somehow compete with the nicotini/muscarngeric/acetylcholine etc. (whatever creates the rush) receptors ?
 
Nicotine is a stimulant, benzos are depressants. The entire buzz achieved via cigarettes is through the stimulative properties in them. Therefore, they kind of have a counteractive effect with benzodiazepines and, depending on the amount you take, it could most likely eliminate the rush of nicotine altogether.

This is all just speculation on my part though, I'm not entirely sure of the specific neurotransmitter interaction. Though I am a smoker as well and I do know what you mean.
 
Benzodiazepines just tend to neutralize a lot of shit. Cigarettes lose their buzz, weed doesn't get you high anymore (or barely gets you high), psychedelic highs get dulled dramatically or cancelled, food doesn't really taste that good despite the voracious appetite you get, etc.
 
I really enjoy smoking while on benzos, much like your aforementioned friend. It's actually my favourite drug to mix with cigarettes. The smoke just tastes better and the minor headrush I get from the nicotine feels great.
 
Now I just wanna throw in another observation....Z-drug (Zopiclone, Zolipidem) seem to have a tottally difference effect on smoking, which is strange considering that they both effect GABA, similar to benzodiazepines.

One of the most intense tobacco experiences I had with while on 15 mg Zopiclone...took a bong rip of dohka (quite strong stuff). I literally entered a plane of non-existance for 1 minute....basically the most intense tobaccco rush I have ever experienced. So I think maybe the the Z-drugs have the ability to increase to tobacco rush....maybe this is because GABA agonists. I mean hypnotics and alcohol which all have effects of GABA also seem to increase the nicotine buzz.
 
^ PS. I just took 12 mg zopiclone....the nasty taste in my mouth is increasing, and I find it actually find it nice to cigarettes..not because of the rush...but just to get that damn nasty taste out of my mouth! Zopi tastes like shit...so anything that normally tastes like shit will taste like shit...but tobacco already tastes so shitty that you don't care at that point...im chain smoking right now and loving it!

I find gabapentin makes me smoke like a chimney
 
Robot splooge sounds about right...the taste drives me nuts, but certain foods/drinks don't seem to change in taste while others do.....yeah I find drink Alkali water VERY Gross...but right now I am drinking mike's hard lemonade, and it tastes like lemonade!

Gabapentin also makes me smoke more but I find that benzodiazepines don't effect my smoking habits much. Honestly though why smoke at all? If you're not addicted to cigarettes I'd seriously suggest putting them down now while you're ahead. Those fuckers are more addictive than h imho and they give no real high to begin with.
 
Cigs are quite okay to smoke on benzos but thienodiazepines is where its at, smoking a cig on 3-4mg of etizolam will knock me into full body relaxation.
 
I am unfortunately completely dependent to Nicotine but i can tell you, it has a synergy with Opiates/Opioids probably due to it being a K opioid agonist, with Sedatives imo, forgetfulness and loss of inhibitions cause the user to crave and use more than usual, not a syngergy. Nicotine is utter shit, i hope to god one day i kick this disgusting habit.
 
I always smoke cigs while on my Xanax. When I'm relaxed, it's just another thing to go along with it. I never noticed any decreased effects to my Xanax.
 
A lot of things are not enjoyable on benzos. Even eating food. I just don't like eating on benzos. Makes my whole face feel weird. Like when everything's sedated, doing things that require me to not be sedated I hate doing on benzos. Like almost anything. WAIT WTF NOW IM REALIZING WHY I STOPPED DOING THESE FUCKERS.

I won't deny in conjunction with alcohol these feelings go away so I'll still take em on a relaxing sunday.

OT: YES there was a thread suggesting that Tobacco's effects over-power in specific Alprazolam's effects by inducing anxiety.

ALSO; Some people don't even smoke for the headrush(like me) so I think you should title this to refer to the Nicotine Buzz. I simply like the act of smoking. So smoking is always enjoyable for me. In fact, I don't even feel the headrush on Benzos so it makes it even better for me. So NO, smoking is enjoyable on benzos.
 
Well now I'm tempted to run out and buy some xannies just to test this! Personally Gabapentin makes me smoke like a chimney. But I cant remember how benzos and cigs go together, it's been so long since I did any benzos (they are horribly addicting for me an after withdrawing from them for the second time in my life last September I never want to go through that shit again.)
