My friend who is 15 got a ticket for smoking a cigarette in a smoke free zone. When the officer saw her, he asked for her age and she claimed to be 18. He asked for her ID and she said she didn't have one. He called her dad and asked if she was 18, he didnt say she was but also didn't say she wasn't.
The officer gave her a smoking ticket that is $100.00.
She is worried that if she mails the money to the county, they will somehow find out she is not 18.
So i guess my question here is: What are the chances they will find out she's a minor? And what will the punishment be?

I don’t think it’s very likely they are going to send the cops after her because she was a minor smoking a cigarette, if that’s what she’s worried about. Police have bigger things to worry about then a 15 year old smoking a cigarette and unless she is a known criminal that causes tons of problems for your local police I highly doubt they are going to waste any resources on her.

If she is thinking about not paying the ticket because she is worried that is probably not the best idea.

I’m saying all of this assuming she doesn’t have a history with your local police dept. If they have to waste their time with her every week for bullshit then they may want to make an example out of her so she stops.

somehow find out? there is no way to get credit for paying a fine without a name and social.

if she heads for mexico immediately, she might be able to live quiet, careful, yet un-incarcerated life as donald r. decicco.

they aren't going to "nab" her after the fact. Just have her pay it.

I agree that she should just pay it. They can't do anything else to her now, after the fact. Its just a cigarette. The worst thing they can do to a minor for something like that would be another small fine or some community service or something.

Closing, as I can't really see this going anywhere - laws vary between states and even counties in the US (i'm guessing) so any responses given are pure conjecture.

Really though, tell her to pay the fine.
