LOL
well he beat me to the punch, but Grignard got what i was gonna say in the simplest terms possible.
he hit it right on the head, but here's a compleate start to finish scenario that i will gladly demonstrate(in the purpose of science of course

) and explain.
alright then,
you have your shard(broken piece of glass+hair clip; it's all i got for now. need to go pipe shoppin) laying in front of you.
Then you reach in your baggie with your scooping implament and toss a couple of nice chunks of solid methamphetamine HCl(meth HCl
(S)) onto the glass.
You take up the hooter(about 1 3/4inches of a pen in this case) in your mouth, pick up the shard by the clip, and light your bic.
NOW, here's were the chemistry starts...
you hold the lit lighter underneath the glass until the crystal starts to melt.
What you are doing here is by adding heat from the lighter, you give the individual molocules of meth HCl
(S) added kinetic nrg that is used to turn it from a solid into a liquid.
EX) meth HCl
(S) + heat -> meth HCl
(l)
As you watch it puddle u keep the lighter moving to avoid burning the puddle(adding so much heat that you break down the chemical itself into something less active, and nastier tasting), and it eventually goes into another phase change.
Since it's already a liquid the molocules have a wide range of motion, but by adding additional heat you start to really make them move.
As you carefully heat it up, it starts to give off a gas that is meth in it's gasseous(or vapour) state.
EX2) meth HCl
(l)
+ heat -> meth HCl
(g)
alright kiddies(oh the irony....nm), this is where the fun thinking stuff begins...
As the meth HCl vapour comes off the puddle you take the hooter clenched in your teeth and slowly suck in the vapours.
The meth HCl
(g) enters your mouth, goes down your wind-pipe, and into your lungs. Now, since ALL HCl salts are water soluable, meth is no acception. So when the gas hits the moist walls of your lungs covered in alvioli, it immedietly starts to lose energy and go into an aquous solution.
As of right now, the meth still isn't working it's magic just yet. It's in a solution with water, but it needs to get to the brain to be effective. How does this happen?
Simply put, the same way as oxygen gets there, through the alvioli in solution. The alvioli work through diffusion, by transferring something from a high area of concentration to a low area of concentration. When you breath in, the oxygen enters your lungs, goes into solution, and is diffused into the bloodsteam by the alvioli. The same thing happens with meth HCl
(g).
The vapour (mostly) goes into solution, is diffused through the alvioli, enters the blood, and gets to your brain to work it's magic.
This happens again, and again, and again, etc...
unless you manage to remove ALL traces of water from your lungs, and somehow managed to not suffocate to death, crystalization isn't gonna be a problem.
phew....that was a mouthful
hopefully something was learned.
me say archive this beast

it would make a nice addition to the archives.
