One study conducted last year in the American Journal of Epidemiology concluded that obesity rates in people who don’t smoke weed were between 22 and 25.3 percent while pot smokers who smoke at least three times a week had obesity rates of between 14.3 and 17.2 percent.There are various studies have been proving that pot smokers are less likely to be obese. Yes, pot actually keeps off excess weight.

While i am searching on web i got new idea for losing weight it really amazing one......

Like the article says, THCV is a good appetite suppressant. It's not found in significant quantities in many hybrid strains these days but is found in a lot of African landraces. Malawi from Ace Seeds or Seedsman's Malawi strain are really good candidates for THCV. I can't remember if it's called Malawi or if it has another name, but it definitely originates from the Malawi region of Africa.

I myself am planning on trying Ace Malawi or one of their other African strains like their Congolese strain for this very reason, since I would like to lose weight and have trouble with the munchies. The added advantage of THCV is that it's quite psychedelic and gives the high a trippy feel apparently.
 
Yet more evidence to support my view that cannabis is beneficial to one's overall health, but I digress.

I've heard that some of the African landraces have as much THCV as THC. I think that GW pharmaceuticals breed some weed that mostly produced THCV.

How is it different? I read that it's more of a stimulant and appetite suppressant, but also that it's an cannabinoid antagonist. Does it have some agonist effects by itself? How would it feel by itself?

It's important to note that THCV and THC-V as in roman numeral 5 are totally different. THC-V is the dimethylheptyl homologue of THC that's up to 500 times more potent. Similar to HU-210, basically desoxyHU-210. THCV or tetrahydrocannbivarin is the propyl homologue that I think is about as potent as THC with different effects, if it has cannabinoid effects. THC proper has a pentyl.
 
I agree^. I believe even smoking this species is beneficial for the soul, if not the body also.
 
Strains high in THCV are a lot more psychedelic and have even been said to cause some users to hallucinate. I would love to try a strain that's proven to be high in THCV myself just to see how different it feels. I might buy the Ace Malawi come to think of it. Some of the purple phenotypes in that strain look absolutely awesome.
 
Oh jesus, I don't even know what to think about this one. Generally we don't allow social topics like this, but I'm fine letting it float.
 
Funny I always thought that mj changed ones metabolism, as I started smoking I lost about 8kg and now I can pretty much eat what I want and not gain or loose anything, although I used to just look at a pizza and gain a pound. Pretty much everyone I know lost weight when they started smoking heavily, although they eat alot. My gf even has problems holding her weight nowadays (she tries not to come under 49kg). She eats pretty much twice as much as me and is still losing weight, kind of confusing.

As the article states cannabis seems to interfer with insuline -> blood sugar levels, which could be a good explanation why "greening out" is so common on an empty stomach...
 
It depends on whether or not you increase in appetite, some smokers do not and lose weight, while many get the, "munchies" and increase coloric intake causing weight gain.
