Harm Reduction smoking foil tips?

I'm new to the whole smoking thing. I'm normally an insufflation or pill swallowing guy, so i was wondering about some tips before smoking so i dont burn myself as much or do it wrong.

Use the thickest foil you can and hold the flame low so that the flame doesn't burn through or jump the side and torch your drugs. Ideally the flame from your torch or lighter shouldn't even touch the foil. Using a torch that can put out a low flame is preferable to a lighter so that you don't end up with black shit all over your hands. melt your drugs to the foil before trying to chase them down the foil so that you don't accidentally spill your drugs when you tilt the foil. If I have to use regular foil (the kind you usually see in stores, not the heavy duty bbq kind) I load the drugs on the duller side in the belief that the oil coating is on the shiny side, but I'm not totally sure I'm correct on this or that it even makes a difference in terms of being better for your lungs.

It'd probably be simpler to forego the foil, go to a headshop, get a lily pad (looks like a glass straw with a spoon on one end) and just smoke with that. Or use a crack pipe like someone suggested - you can smoke other drugs in those.

Wouldn't try it without someone showing you how. Especially, if the pill on the foil is all you got to make you feel straight.

Good chance of just burning it straight up.

These pill powders, do they actually ' run ' along the foil or you burn it on the spot? Find it strange if they run on foil like #3 Heroin or crack.

The pills themselves run along the foil, whether you're smoking a blue fent pill or a (legitimate, old-school) oxycontin. There's no need to crush them into a powder.
