Smokers, Please sign this petition

Why? There are legitimate, organized groups that actually lobby for marijuana legalization for you. An internet petition is about the most useless thing you can do.

If it makes you feel like you are contributing (you aren't) then be my guest...

Unfortunately, no. :(

The little bit actually has to do something for it to help.

If weed is legalized the government will sell it and then they will put additives in the joints making them addictive and proving themselves correct. Keep it illegal or legalize it and dont tax it.

I don't think pot should be legalized. I smoke it on occasion, but I agree that it should be illegal. I live in California, get rid of medical marijuana too, for the most part its a complete farce.

^Do you mind elaborating on your belief that a harmless substance like Cannabis should be Schedule I in the United States, in addition to similarly being banned world-wide?

Cannabis isn't harmless, if people truly believe that it is harmless that it is good that its illegal. I think its stupid that cannabis is schedule 1 and things like cocaine are schedule 2. However, people should not be able to buy cannabis in stores. People shouldn't be allowed to buy alcohol or cigarettes in stores either. Also medical marijuana is a sham. Yes its true that marijuana can help a select few people with certain conditions. A large majority of medical marijuana card holders have them for false reasons and just get high. Its also about as common to be able to purchase medical marijuana on the street as it is to purchase illegally grown marijuana on the street.

^How many people have died from Cannabis? Goose Egg. It's harmless...

I find that outrageous statement quite entertaining, "if people truly believe that it is harmless that it is good that its illegal." I would honestly beg to differ. I think it's stupid that you believe it shouldn't be sold in stores, and that there are people out there like yourself who smoke it, but actually have the opinion that it shouldn't be decriminalized if not legalized. Unless you're a grower or pusher, then I don't see any other reason besides profit for someone to hold such an extreme opinion.

Whether they have MM Cards for legitimate reasons or not, doesn't change the fact that it is illegal for illegitimate reasons. Nobody should be able to govern what you put in your body, period.

A simple extract of the entire Cannabis plant has cured peoples cancers and various assortment of other ailments. It's the most versatile plant known to man, excluding its medical and recreational uses. Your ideas or opinions seem to be diluted by some narcissistic idealisms that aren't based on the facts.

It is the illegality, scare tactics, and propaganda that cause people to become misinformed on marijuana. That statement makes absolutely zero sense for many other reasons as well though ;)

Is it harmless? No. Should it be legalized? Fucking obviously.

GTFO you're a fool, who cares if people have it for false reasons, people do the same with prescriptions. It also allows them to use it recreationally and legally so good for them, and some also use it for legit reasons.

Just because people don't die for cannabis doesn't mean it isn't harmful. Also, I'm not a grower or a pusher, just a prohibitionist. I use cannabis yes, its illegal yes, if I were arrested for using cannabis I wouldn't complain, I knew the consequences before hand. I don't think it should be legal or endorsed by the government to get high on anything. Also, about people getting falsified prescriptions. That does happen, however, it is much more difficult to get a prescription for pharmaceuticals than it is for cannabis. Literally all you need to do to get a club card is pay a doctor $200, you can't walk into a doctors office, hand him $200, and get a lifetime prescription for Oxycontin.

Prohibition has been statistically proven to not work, even common sense can see this. Something that is considered harmful, is something that kills you or can kill you.

If you're going to make the rebuttal using the ideology, "just because nobody has died from it, doesn't mean it isn't harmful," then you have to at least give your reasoning behind this. I know you wont find any useful or resourceful data, backing up this statement and when using one's common knowledge you can sure bet you wont muster up a useful argument to defend that statement.

I don't think it should be legal or endorsed by the government to get high on anything

How could you say this, when you yourself get high. Sounds like hypocrisy to me... What is wrong with celebratory inebriation? It's been done for centuries and has been socially acceptable. Still acceptable in some cultures today. Only in recent times has it been "demonized," other than the substances the government says is OK to use.

Entheogens and Psychedelics can save humanity as a whole, bringing us back to an Egalitarian society. Cannabis is the best way to begin engendering free-thought in the people.

I'm not the government. I realize you like to get high. That's fine. I just don't think the government should make it legal for you to get high. Go ahead a get high. Just don't get caught. I don't want to live in a society where people parade down the street smoking bongs or shooting crack into their arms in movie theaters. If a person wants to do drugs behind closed doors that's fine. When the drugs are illegal they are out of sight, under ground, and away from the masses. Prohibition may fail at eradicating drugs, the one thing prohibition succeeds in is forcing drugs into a black market, when there should remain.

^
Then by your own dumbass logic your not actually for prohibition at all. You are just for the use of drugs in a public place being illegal, and I'm actually kinda with you on that one.

But you need to get your own asinine opinion straight my friend, because your logic is circular and makes very little sense to most people.

How can you jump from one reasonable and harmless scenario, to the most extreme scenario possible. Who walks and smokes a bong? How many people shoot up crack?

You're still a hypocrite... with a flawed concept on "drugs"

prohibitionist:
noun
One in favor of outlawing the manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages (Or in my case any drug).

I don't see how I'm not a prohibitionist. As for being a hypocrite, sure why not. I'm a hypocrite, I don't care. I know this is a drug forum so not many people will agree with me. I feel that I am entitled to my opinion, and that opinion is that drugs should remain illegal. I would vote for harsher regulation of drugs before I would vote for legislation legalizing any drugs for recreational uses.
