Smoke emitting from EZ-Test......mean DXM?

I purchased an EZ-Test recently and tried it on a Pink Liberty pill that I have in my possession. The result was almost immediate purplish/black, but there was also ALOT of smoke emitted from the this test, more than I have ever seen emitted when testing a pill in the past. For cautionary measures I have not taken this pill, but am wondering if the amount of smoke produced should cause some alarm. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Smoke is ok, just a reaction with the binding chemicals in the pill. As long as it went purplish-black right away, the pill contains an MDxx substance.

A little fizz and going purple indicates an E like substance.
What you say, A LOT of smoke could also indicate DXM.
I am not going to say here what it could be, I haven't seen the reation but I would be cautious.
I think on DanceSafe there is a capsule, not a pill like you have, that actually contained DXM and MDMA but I do not know what kind of reaction this produced.
Don't think this helps a lot but I simply can't tell from what I read.
If you have a webcam and record it, maybe I could give you a better answer.

but if you see enough to consider it "smoke"... it's most likely DXM...

Excuse me, I own a dancesafe testing kit.
I have had mollies emit a puff of smoke as they went jet-black/purple several times. It does not happen as often with pills, although sometimes the thicker ones will puff a bit. Even dancesafe says that while either DXM or MDMA can emit a puff of smoke, REAL MDMA will start turning black/purple immediately. DXM takes 8-10 seconds to change to a greyish black.
Here is the exact quote from dancesafe:
Sometimes with gel-caps or loose powder (only rarely with pressed tablets), the reagent will bubble at the very beginning and emit a puff of smoke. If it turns black right away it contains ecstasy.

Enough of the fighting... I have tested pure MDMA crystals, and yes they DO smoke, bubble and turn black / purple immediately.
If there was DXM in there it wouldn't have reacted like that, so my conclusion is that you have a nice pill there, not DXM

I realize it's rare for a pill to smoke and I have only seen it happen less than a handful of times. My point is only that, according to dancesafe.org, if your pill turns black immediately, it contains MDMA.
This doesn't mean his pill is safe or does not contain other adulterants. All it means is that there is some MDxx substance present. I've never seen or heard of DXM being mixed with MDMA in the same pill.

soulfly: im sure you mean well but watch your tone ok? no one has so far posted anything wrong, as we all know the dxm reaction is hard to describe in text, and the word "smoke" is all that people remember... the dancesafe quote says that it "rarely" happens with pills... this means it does and can happen... pills i tested this week gave off what i would definitly say was "smoke" but were simply strong MDMA... this is the sort of thing we must all keep in mind when we are doing harm reduction work...
next time try and avoid writing things like:

if you'd just posted the quote itself this would have been a better thread.
everyone should try and spend the extra minutes using 30 words to make your point rather than 10. the more verbose we are, the less room there is for dispute. it also takes us only a couple of minutes to find the reference and cut and paste it into the thread rather than just referring to it general terms... and do this as soon as there is contention... not once something has blown up into a dispute
this applies to everyone, i'd hate soulfly to think i was picking on him/her
