well since I have experience (over 20 years) with the making process and doing it, clean now, there is only one way to get rid of the smell. QUIT!!! I am not trying to be an advocate, but that is the only way the smell will go away. The problem is his ketone levels are too low to keep his liver functioning properly. The chemical reactions with his body is a big problem. It does not matter how much you shower, put on deodorant, brush your teeth, your body has to detoxify itself. and this could be several hours to several days or weeks. I dealt with the same problem with myself and others. some would have such an odor it actually burned peoples noses, eyes and it smelled like burning flesh. And this is worse for the smokers. I went to the doctor during one of these "smell episode's" and my ketone level was so low, the doctor asked me how I was setting on his table and not dead. you can hydrate your body, which is a good idea anyway, but that will not help. It is the chemical's reacting. if your friend is not ready to quit, here is a few tips, eat high calorie food, and eat at least every hour or two, even if you don't want to. drink lots of water, he should be drinking about a gallon of water, take showers. and the type of meth that he is using is also a big factor. if he is using anhydrous the smell will be sweeter but stronger. and with red phosurious (not spelled right) the smell will be more sour, but more of a smell that is less tolerable for most to handle. Also, if he feels waves of coldness, along with sweating at the same time, then it feels like his pores are tingling and you smell the odor, then he needs to eat and drink water immediately, and take a shower but remember the smell is coming from chemical reactions inside his body. It is embarrassing for him I am sure, but if this happens his best bet is to stop doing the drug at least 24 hours and eat, sleep and drink.
