Come work with me! (In my academics, not the army lol) I could use a good programmer to hack something elegant together to model the various particle interactions I'm working with, instead of the brittle, crufty nonsense I've thrown together. Even better if they're cool. :P

But sorry to hear about guy #2 being gone and all.

I just got back from spending half an hour in the cold and rain (in my pyjamas) after some prick set off the fire alarm in the building. Idiot. (It's past midnight here).

Oh but I just got accepted for an internship in a publishing company this summer which is awesome cuz that's what I'd like to go into. Not much of a link with SLR but I'm really happy about it :D

@Rangrz, I would never survive the army, so good thing you specified. :P I would love to work in a lab. Between my little innocent crush getting killed and watching layoffs happen, I'm so fucking upset right now. This was the worst layoff execution ever. It started around 10am, and lasted until 2pm. They just kept walking people into rooms one by one. My one cubby mate was balling, because we lost our team member who she was really close to. I've heard of these layoffs, but never experienced them. I don't know how I survived it, because I never thought I did anything great...just fixed dumb shit. I seriously think I survived, because of having a good attitude at work (hard to believe, right? LOL) and being described as "easy to work with."

That's the life, folks. This is the shit that happens after college and it sucks ass. It's shitty in several ways. #1, you lose relationships, #2 these people are now your competition when finding something else and #3 it's a sign that there are more to come, so you have to read the signs and jump ship before you yourself get blindsided. Everyone gets a turn at this bullshit.

I texted guy #2 and told him if he wants to go out this week, to hit me up, but no answer. I figure I'd try. Oh well. FAIL. I'll get over it soon enough.
 
Damn, that sucks. That sounds like the company management wanted set some sort of example by doing it so brutally. Or else they just have no idea how to keep morale and loyalty up and thus did it out of incompetence? Maybe you survived because you actually do a great job. I remember reading that people with true ability tend to have a cognitive bias that is in essence, the opposite of dunning-krueger effect/illusory superiority and underestimate their own ability/accomplishments.

I'm sorry to hear you're having a shit day Lysis. :(. I am too...hopefully you are prone to schadenfreude and can derive some pleasure from that. :P

Now is a good time for friends. I'm glad I'm going out tomorrow. I need to just hang with friends right now, but it's friggin Monday. :\
 
Lysis I'm so sorry, the way you described it it sounds absolutely awful. I'm glad you'll be able to see some friends tomorrow and I hope you'll manage to kinda keep your mind off it until then :(

I suppose instead of being sad about what happened today, you can try to be excited about what is going to happen tomorrow and look forward to a fun time? :)

I have a lot on my mind. Making life plans with a man I talked to via Skype for 6 months.
He has been the original plan. I stayed abstinent because of him for the 6 months. Curious, and in a final attempt to exhaust all my resources... I took up dating... completely unimpressed (cheap thrills) I'm going deeper than ever.

There is this mystery girl on Facebook. I added her cuz I thought her hair looked cool. Well I asked her what music she likes and she said " punk rock and drum n bass" which is my two fav kinds of music. I thought that was insanely badass and usually chicks I meet don't have similar music taste. I told me friend what I should do to get her attention. He told me to draw her a pic since I'm an artist. I drew a pic of her DJing. She loved it. I sent her a dnb mix and she loved it. She sent me one back and I loved it.

Since then she has been kind if my tour guide to the drum n bass scene. Directing me on fb how to get to jam sessions throughout the city. I'm going to two this week. She may be at one. I have a gf and she has a bf but can never have too many friends. Especially music friends.

I've been having the worse luck with guys recently, it's ridiculous. Considering the number of things that have been going wrong I'm starting to think I must be the problem. :(

Oh funny story from earlier today though: there's this guy I hooked up with in september, quite handsome but seemed kinda desperate, he asked me to be his girlfriend within an hour of meeting me and IN THE MIDDLE of sex. I told him that I wasn't interested in a relationship (not really true but he put me off), he texted me a few times since then but I never answered. So today I was at the gym, minding my own business on the rowing machine when this guy who smelled exactly like him sat on the one next to me. As soon as I stopped he stopped as well and was staring at me really obviously, trying to make eye contact and stuff, and by this time I was positive it was him so I just stared the other way at the TV pretending I didn't notice haha. Plus I was listening to music so I could pretend I didn't hear him talking to me either. So then I was on the treadmill and I could see him kinda lurking around staring at me for a good 20 minutes, it was really awkward and as soon as he turned his back I literally half-ran to the changing rooms.
Awkwardest thing.
 
Today one of my staff complimented/thanked me for not sexually harassing her and not touching her bum.
