Slow Motion Perception?

Anyone else experience this while on psychedelics? It's not like an enhanced perception of time but actually seeing in watever you watch in your visual field decrease in a frame by frame way. Its kinda hard to describe but maybe I'm the only one who's experienced this.

This perceptual phenomena has been investigated most comprehensively in The DXM Stop Motion Effect ('Strobing' or 'Flanging'): Terminology for Interference with the Visual Perception of Motion, by Earth, on Erowid. I think it's likely related to a concept called "attentional blink.":
Attentional blink (AB) is a phenomenon observed in rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP). When presented with a sequence of visual stimuli in rapid succession at the same spatial location on a screen, a participant will often fail to detect a second salient target occurring in succession if it is presented between 150-450 ms after the first one.
Research has shown it is possible to reduce the duration of one's attentional blink by practicing mindfulness meditation (basically spending a lot of time consciously observing bodily sensations from moment to moment). By exercising attention we can reinforce perceptual signaling pathways, in effect increasing the frame rate of consciousness. I think dissociatives may partially block the signals that constitute our perception of visual frames, such that they cannot be formed as quickly, and so our perception of apparent motion via the phi phenomenon gets choppy.

EDIT: I found an online publication of Oliver Sacks' "In the River of Consciousness," which will be elucidating to anyone who has experienced visual flanging on dissociatives.

For me, this can be more accurately characterized as "moment by moment", not frame by frame. It's more that with each salient 'event' or unfolding, awareness zooms in, and the moment extends through iterative cognitive processing.

I used to get this from smoking weed whenever I first started out. I always hung out with people who had very high quality bud and were used to smoking a lot of it in a short time, which very well may have been why. I had it going almost all day every day for a few months, and then once tolerance really started kicking in I never got it from weed again. The only other times I can remember having it are on the last day of my first binge with MDMA and once when I mixed some very strong MDMA tabs with two grams of mushrooms, only for a moment at the beginning though. I wish I would get it again, I really miss it. :T

holy fuck so this is what it is. Started getting it on nos + psychedelics and now psychedelics do it a lot alone, and nitrous does it 100% of the time. Shit feels like you're stuck in a gif, ruined a couple of trips for me actually
