After a month of being clean I railed one bag of H. Did I just ruin all of my progress? If I dont do another how far back did I set myself?

If you genuinely want to kick your habit, then just get back on the wagon and keep going! (Not the H wagon, the sobriety wagon!) Most people with addictions slip up.

Time spent sober for someone who has a real problem with drug(s) and/or alcohol, or who just wants to take a break from his/her usage is never time wasted.

well if you didn't get sick from WD then I would say you are safe in the lost progress section of your relapse. The real question is not "is this going to screw up progress" but rather "why do I continue to use after getting clean" being concerned about it is great but you need to figure out why you did it. Remember this is the true fork in the road for you, you know where that path goes my friend I would truly take inventory of what you could be giving up. Even if its the simple fact that waking up in the morning with no money is awesome! well because you don't "need" money being broke sucks but hey your not sick.

For me, it's usually all or nothing. If I have retriggered withdrawals by using once, I will have retriggred the full extent of the withdrawals, if not, then I'm usually perfectly fine to continue on where I left off. Hopefully you feel fine too and can forget about this misstake and continue on trying to get clean. I wish you the best of luck!

You lapsed, it's as big or as small of a deal as you make it to be honest.

I would be more concerned about the fact you're not sure enough in yourself as to whether you can continue with your recovery as you were before the lapse than the actual lapse itself if I were you.

Think about the event, analyse it (why it happened, what took you there, how it made you feel, how you will stop it from happening again), learn from it, and continue on with your recovery would be my advice.:)

I know I can continue, I just was wondering what physical damage I did to the healing process.

What do you mean by healing process?

Heroin in it's pure form is very benign as far as intoxicants and their physical effects on your body go. If you mean with regards to the reawakening of the opiod receptors in your brain, then none essentially. Do you feel any worse physically? I would guess the answer is no, so don't worry, as this is the measure by which you should be judging your recovery really (in terms of the physical efffects).

I dont think you did much damage at all. In fact it could be the perfect thing. Many times when we slip after getting clean we are astounded by how unpleasurable the experience is. It is rarely the way we remeber it.
