Slipknot Bassist Paul Gray Found Dead R.I.P

Hey now, just because you were part of a costume/makeup band that catered to angry, hormonal, angst-ridden teenagers doesn't mean you deserve to be slandered in death.

Seriously though, RIP Mr. Gray and my condolences to his friends and family.
 
Yeah its always sad when a life leaves this world, but why does someone that has contributed in ruining the name of metal to the general public by being part of such an awful band deserve a thread over the hundreds of thousands/millions of others that die daily?

I mean, come on. I dig some Slipknot songs, mostly the old ones like New Abortion, but I'm honestly not too big a fan of most of their stuff.

No offense, but you came in here going on about how anyone who doesn't like Slipknot must be mentally inferior. THEN you proceeded to condescend someone else for their personal choice in music.

Autopsy results show the bassist for heavy metal band Slipknot died of an accidental overdose of morphine and fentanyl, a synthetic morphine substitute, police said Monday.

Paul Gray, 38, was found dead in a suburban Des Moines hotel room on May 25. A hotel worker told a 911 dispatcher that a hypodermic needle was found near Gray's body and that pills also were found in the room.

The autopsy shows he died of an overdose, Urbandale police said in a news release. They also said the autopsy revealed signs of significant heart disease.

No evidence has been found showing Gray had a prescription for the drugs, police spokesman Sgt. Dave Disney said. Police are trying to find out how Gray got them.

"There is no evidence that a doctor prescribed either one of those substances," Disney said.

Disney said charges are possible but that it is too early to discuss specifically what those charges could be.

A person answering the phone at Slipknot's record company, New York-based Roadrunner Records, declined to comment and said that there would be no official comment from the company or band until one is posted on the band's website. No such statement was posted on Slipknot's website as of late Monday afternoon.

Phone listings for his wife, Brenna Gray, and Corey Taylor, a founding member of the band, were not immediately found.

Gray was a co-founder of the Des Moines-based band known for its grotesque masks, thrashing sounds and aggressive, dark lyrics.

Slipknot emerged in the mid-1990s and its 1999 debut album sold about 2 million copies. The band won a Grammy in 2006 for best metal performance for the song "Before I Forget."
 
slipknot sucks ass. theyre attention whores with their masks, the singer cannot sing for shit, the lyrics suck ass and their music is repetitive, annoying and also sucks.

btw, what fucking metal band has A TURNTABLIST? and the numbers and barcodes and shti? Tools. the lot of em, tools. They are one of the most mainstream fucking bands ever, but they seem oblivious to that.

Most "metal" bands don't care to win a grammy because that usually means the wrong people like them.

And for fuck's sake bro... I'm starting to think the cause of death was bleeding out from you choking on his boner. Why don't you settle down for a bit and let people mourn his loss without you constantly reminding everyone how AMAZING OMGZ! he was and how super talented of a non-gimmicky band they are.

Slipknot may have had talent, but that doesn't make them a good band.

there used to be a couple good bands with turntablists back in the day. science era incubus. the deftones still do. not metal, but you get the idea.

Since when was I comparing the two or even remotely saying they were anything alike? Those were just the bands I listened to.

I loved Slipknot when I was 9, they have been pretty full of fail over the past decade though. The whole band has been dead to me since 2006.
