Xanax is a reliately weak benzo and isn't classed as a hypnotic, meaning its not prescribed for getting to sleep. If your experiencing side effects off xanax id say talking a stronger pill probably wont be more comfortable.Anyway Temazepam,Nitrzepam(mogadon),Clonazepam and Rohypnol are the most commonly prescribed benzos for insomnia here in Aus. ALso a fairly newer class off drugs are being used Stillnox(Zolpiderm)or Imovane, both act on the same benzo receptors but aren't classified as benzo. Stillnox is my personal fave. as Rohypnol is no longer perscribed or manufactored here. Imovane has possibly the worst after-taste out of any pill ive eaten especially the morning after.

well if you just wanna sleep why not try 50 mg of benadryl, that should put you out. nytol, tylenol pm, and dramamine are also pretty effective. but if you want to get knocked out just drink like 5 shots of 151 you'll sleep like a baby.

What side affects are you trying to avoid? Most benzos will leave your head feeling a little foggy when you wake. And if you take a heavy dose or mix with alcohol, you may not remember everything that happened prior to falling alseep.

3-5 mg of Lorazepam (brand name Ativan) works good for me. Helps me sleep with minimal side affects.

Some people find that antipsychotics (like clonidine, for example) work well on a stimulant comedown -- they definitely knock you out, and some find they have fewer side effects than benzos.

You could also try GHB, which generally doesn't have a hangover.

And the suggestion to use ambien/zolpidem is a good one also.

What kind of side effects do you get and Xanax? My complaint (I'm exploring options with my physician for panic and insomnia) is that I feel all slow and hungover all morning. It seems to have a hold on me longer than for other people. OTC sleep aids, on the other hand (which can be mildly psychedelic, some are more sensitive than others) seem to only keep my down for about 4 hours if I need to wake up 4 hours later. My roommate is a mess the entire next day off these. Combine with alcohol to speed up the effect or combine with weed for CEV's if you have good bud.

As others have said, benadryl, tyPM, and sleeping pills like Sominex are the same thing: diphenhydramine. Dramamine was actually reformulated for a less sleep-inducing variant of this chemical. Take a calculator to the drugstore and figure out which is the best deal by the miligram (I'm detail-oriented like a meth-head even though I don't do glass...), which I've found, surprisingly, is the generic sleeping pills. Avoid TyPM because you can develop a tolerance for the sleep aid and you don't need to pump yourself full of the best (where best = worst) pain relief medicine you can get. Sominex is never a good deal, and Tylenol Simply Sleep is an absolute rip.

2 temtabs should knock you down but if you can get ya hands on it get Hypnodorm its the best its the generic of Rhohypnol. Leaves you feelin a bit groggy in the morning take it with alcohol and youll slur yours words all day long though but youll have definetly go to sleep take it 10mins later you wont be able to walk
