I've had no problem (that i know of) taking an abundance of benadryl while obliverated drunk. I want to know what the risk factor of binge drinking combined with ambien or unisom would be.
I assume ambien's reaction would be stronger than unisom. i have ambien at my parents house and i keep it there because i'm not sure if i have the willpower to keep from taking it when loaded. I want to buy unisom for nights i dont drink at my apartment but i'm scared that i'll take i take it while drinking. and while drinking i mean like heavy drinking like a box of wine and a 1/5th of liquor on a "taking it too far night" and 2 bottles of wine and maybe a glass of diluted vodka on a slow night.

so any information would be appreciated. i want to sleep and drink but i dont wanna die right now or cause some crazy liver damage. oh and i plan on quitting drinking entirely in 2 months but i'm waiting for a doctors appointment and my GI doc said i could continue drinking until the appointment. just avoid high fiber food?? wtf

Just don't man, black out waiting to happen..here's how it went for me:15 mg's of zopiclone+vodka=30 day jail sentence (I'm sure a few people here remember me tellin this story)do yourself a favor and enjoy both drugs separately.also, are you physically addicted to the sauce?

zolpidem (ambien) shouldn't really be compared to OTC drugs like Unisom (Doxylamine) or Benadryl (Diphenhydramine). It's a Z class drug, it's effects are real similar to that of other benzos but it's still different. Because of this, there's a certain amount of risk involved, especially with the heavy alcohol consumption you're describing. Keeping them out of your reach is probably a good idea. Once you get drunk you'll obviously want to take some ambien, and once it kicks in you'll naturally want to take a whole lot more.

The diphenhydramine and the doxylamine are safe (correct me if I'm wrong here guys). But if you combine copious amounts of alcohol, you could be dealing with a worst case scenario of respiratory depression, passing out, choking on your own vomit (I said worst case scenario so chill!). In the very least you're gonna blackout hard and do something you'll regret. Don't combine ambien with booze, it's a true recipe for disaster.

Sedatory Antihistamines are usually fine taken with Ethanol, but be prepared for a great deal of dehydration!

But Benzo-esque hypnotics are not a good idea to combine with booze at all, unless you're tolerant and know your limits. But still, as OntarioGuy said, it can easily lead to blackout city :\

yea, if your going to take the ambien with alchohol, i suggest a decent tolerance and cut back ALOT on the alchohol consumption. i like accompanying my benzos with alchohol but i can stop myself from taking more benzos and can stop drinking when i need to. the part that gets everyone in trouble is once they get drunk and pop ambien/benzos they end up eating their whole stash and turn into a benzo eating zombie! and might i suggest beer instead of hard liquor or wine.

Not sure how safe even this is. I went to the hospital very drunk following a car wreck (no, I wasn't driving) with a pocket full od benadryl capsules and the doctor warned me that was dangerous. Little did he know the capsules actually contained 2c-e.=D

Oooph! You lucky betch Squirrel =D

Well it is safe in terms of interaction (Antihistamines & Ethanol), but I can imagine if you took too much and ended up in a state of delirium that things could get messy... well, even more messy lol 8)
Doctors usually say anything to stop you from consuming everything ;)

And yea leftwing :) I thought that they were all very sensible ^_^
