Hi guy and gals
I have been prescribed Tramadol for a trapped nerve in my foot which hurts like a mother fucker. I take my last dose at around 9pm and go to bed around 11pm. Since I have been taking this I have had trouble sleeping all I end up doing is tossing and turning for most of the night and it is fucking annoying. I also take 1mg of clonazepam per night which helps me sleep normally.

I was under the impression that opiate type drugs have sedative type effects and would help with sleep. I am happy that when I got to bed I am no longer in so much pain but I could use a good nights kip any suggestions :X

Opiates can make sleep more difficult as they slow you down, thus you have more energy at day's end. or, on stronger ones than tramadol, if you start nodding, you're half asleep, kinda like napping all day then wondering why you cant sleep at night. Is the tramadol helping with the pain? If not, that will keep you up. Tramadol is very weak stuff, Ive taken it before, dont remember it causing sleep problems but if that is the cause, see your doctor for different medication for your pain.

Thanks Kid Amine the Tramadol works fine for the pain I just take it earlier now around tea time and I sleep fine now :)

Tramadol can make a lot of people very wired, very jittery and rather quite anxious.

You said it's helped if you take it earlier, but if it's still giving you trouble, pop to your doc and explain its giving you sleeping troubles (which they'll be aware of) and ask to swap it for an equipotent dose of Codeine or Dihydrocodeine.
