Sleep bring emptiness to my mind,
So that I might forget the torment of my waking hours.
Bring me the blackness that forgets the colour of the sun.
Bring me down to the lowest of your chambers,
where not even the faintest memory can reach me
Take me to your loneliest corner,
and leave me there until I forget myself
Shield me in your depth from the cruel lashes of the outside world
Turn off my lights and bring me peace if only for a couple hours.

Your title is so fantastic that I'm going to steal it.

i was just thinking of this the other day, that there are so many times i gladly trade a wkend of partying to have the freedom to sleep as much and as often as i want to...actually i think i'm gonna go take another nap now

I remember a beautiful sunny Saturday morning when I was six years old.
My mother was preparing a delicious pancake breakfast.
The pancakes were ready, so Mom had me go upstairs and wake up Dad so the family could begin our Saturday together.
I ran upstairs to his bedroom and tapped Dad on the shoulder and told him that it was time for breakfast.
He didn't respond.
So I jumped on him and hugged him and told him what a beautful day it was and that I'd let him have the ball first in basketball if he woke up now for breakfast.
Dad then turned around slowly and told me something I would never forget:
"Son . . . sleep is the greatest thing in the world."
Then he turned over and went back to sleep.

if only i had the time to sleep! reading your poem just makes me want to curl up in my nice warm bed and sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep...............

before love there are
memories of innonence.
after there are none...

I just discovered that the person who invented the cute little "all altruists gladly make gum in gallon tanks" system of naming the D-aldohexoses also invented napalm. (sodium palmitate.)
sleep, the mother of all drugs -- no.
carbon--
and the study of the structure and reactivity of compounds containing carbon--
is the mother of all drugs,
and trust me, organic chemistry yields no sleep whatsoever.
i slept for an hour and a half last night.
tonight i might not sleep at all.
depends on whether or not they want the report on mesitylene tricarbonylmolybdenum(0).
i propose therefore the Tetrahedron:
(1) jib = food = sleep = life

i fucked up the test, of course.
it was easy - but i found ways to fuck up.
you know, so i can keep that 2.2 gpa.
it's nice.
them telling me what i know, and me knowing nothing.

I love your title and your words.

(Roches... don't tell me you forgot the 109.5 degree with the tetrahedron, or the 120 degree with trigonal planar, or ..... I feel your pain. Are you making sure to build models?

Another O Chem exam for me on Monday, the review sheet is four pages long and typed... he said he tried to cover a good part of the material on the review sheet... please make it be over)
