I really don't know where this should go as I'm rather new to blue light. however, I would guess the other drug forum maybe.

I was in an accident at 16 and have been on legally prescribed pain medicine ( codeine, then Hydro then percoset) more on than off since. My dentist recently retired. In looking for a new one, I found a dentist that knocks people out for everything which I would love to go to. The problem is for safety one cannot take anything orally for 8 hours before appointments. This means I would go into the beginning of withdrawal during my appointment. As I see it my options are 1 take loperamide the night before ( for me one dose of say 12-16mgs blocks w/d for about 20 hours. On a few occasions, I have had to take lope when the pharmacy did not have my meds in stock on refill day)

option 2: plug 20mgs hydro in the AM just before the appointment. ( that much hydrocodone does not make me tired at all or help with pain just keeps the w/d away and I still have some hydros from before my Rx was changed to percoset ). Any thoughts on which of these options would be best/safest or if you see an option ive missed would be greatly appreciated. I would rather not have to tell the dentist i'm dependent not even my family dr has figured it out ( he is a tad on the naive clueless side). I don't know how he doesn't know but, he recently said something that demonstrated that he doesn't. Please note, I have never been involved with the recreational side of drug use I would not know how to get things without being prescribed them. so, in a chatroom on a different site, someone suggested getting some subs through other channels. For me, that type of idea just won't work. thanks again

My forte, as I have 18 yrs experience as a MT/CDA/CDH.

Do not take anything prior to a sedation appt., please.

The combo drugs for anesthesia the DMD/OS may give may interact, causing your vitals/respiratory rate to drop, resulting in issues for you, and the DMD/OS.

He will probably give you benzo/N2o, etc. sedation, and we all know benzos + other meds are deadly.

Just try to ride it out if you can, or discuss with him prior.
