I've tried taking these on a few occasions for recreational use and no luck, it just made me feel weak and like shit the next day.. However, do you think it would help with the muscle pain/soreness during withdrawals (in my case methadone)? Or would it not do anything since I don't have any real skeletal/muscle problems for which these pills are usually prescribed? The only reason I ask is I have a huge bottle of them and no use for them.

Metaxalone is useless for withdrawal/muscle soreness. It is, in fact, useless for anything. Piece of shit drug.

In doses way above the 800mg single dose units (we're talking over 2 grams here) I've noticed something being off, but it's pretty useless until you're mixing it with a benzo or an opiate..and even then it won't really do anything except potentiate it a bit.
At those high doses, however, some people may find it useful for treating the restless legs part of withdrawals.

As far as muscle relaxants go, its pretty weak but it might still help A LITTLE in withdrawal. If You're coming off a lot of methadone and/or not using many other medications during your detox, you probably won't notice any effects from it. It will compliment other medications such as benzos, loperamide, etc. that I'd recommend taking during your withdrawals however.
