1) I don't wanna keep associating with gangs and criminals. Someone I know is currently facing a life sentence for manufacturing methamphetamine.
2) I'll save myself a lot of money. New Zealand meth is probably the most expensive meth in the world.
3) I won't have to deal, sell stolen goods, or return to prostitution to finance my habit.
4) My physical and mental health. I'm 5' 8" and weigh less than 100 lbs, plus I'm starting to have problems with my liver and kidneys. Meth also seriously fucks with my depression and personality disorder.
5) My relationship with my family will definitely improve.
6) Who knows, I might actually be able to make something of my life!
1) That is so sad, P. There are people in my country who commit rape, murder, attempted murder, even regularly, who will never face a lifelong jail sentence. And someone gets such a sentence for manufacturing a drug? That is so silly.
I totally understand why you don't want to associate with such people though, I do. I think it's admirable too. I feel sorry for your friend though, I can't imagine why chemical reactions are more worthy of punishment than attempted murder... *sigh* what a world we live in...
2) Yeah I would have saved myself a lot of money if I had actually stopped doing heroin when I first tried to stop...
It is a really good feeling when you can hold onto money so much longer though, and you can buy a dark chocolate bar to keep your hopes up on bad days too! This is a serious reward I was under indulging in when heroin was taking over my life.
I know it's not the same but I hope you get to enjoy the little things in life like that P. I would buy you a dark chocolate bar but we live in different countries, alas. Maybe one day.
3) This is the #1 reason why legalizing drugs is the only way to fix our society; once people are curious enough to try drugs, enough people will get addicted, enough addicts will keep using and then society is full of problems. You can't blame the drug users because they want to quit more often than not, and it's a fatal flaw of the government to mandate "drug prescriptions" = what a waste of time and money.
I hope you never have to steal/sell stolen goods or prostitute yourself ever again P! I have a lot of faith in you and I know why you don't want to do this, I am sure it's not bothering you on the same level it would other people either. It's just a waste of time when you can be doing something so much more productive with your time.
I know you are so talented and smart that you could be doing something so much greater, and I know you can do it too.
4) I fully hear you there, I hope you put on some weight, and I hope your liver and kidneys are doing OK.
I also hope your kidneys are going to hold up, our cat had kidney failure and it was so sad, she almost died, lost 50% of her overall body weight, and didn't eat or drink water for a few days in a row, she was unresponsive to stimuli and was basically sitting around waiting to die.
It looked like the worst thing to be suffering from in the world.
5) My relationship with my family improved when I quit using heroin so I hope it does with yours too P! It's admirable that you desire a better relationship with your family, that's a really good thing.
6) You will make something of your life P! I can tell you will. You're an inspired individual, and inspired people always find a way to make it in life.
I know I rambled on a bit so I'll leave it at this but best of luck and thanks for being my friend and talking to me P! You're a great friend to have.
^ Thanks for the comments, CH! I agree with everything you've said. The term "life sentence" is a bit of a misnomer in my country, as it usually means 15-20 years. But yeah, it's silly that cooking drugs is considered on par with violent crimes such as rape and murder.
Me and DW are both doing really well at the moment. It's like our whole attitude towards drugs has changed. We still smoke a bit of weed, etc., but our desire to use meth isn't nearly as strong as it used to be. I'm sure our health will get better with time, and we'll be able to live happy productive lives.
