Six people collapse after 'overdosing on liquid fantasy drug' at wild party on Stradbroke Island, leaving five in hospital and two in critical condition

Six people were found unconscious after it was believed they overdosed on the drug 'liquid fantasy' at a dance party.

The party was attended by 'several hundred people' at South Stradbroke Island, off the coast of south-east Queensland.

A Queensland police spokesman confirmed to Daily Mail Australia three men and two women had been taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.

The five people were aged in their 20s and 30s.

A sixth person was also found unconscious but was not taken to hospital, Fairfax Media reported.

The group were found on a boat about 5pm on Sunday and appeared to have overdosed on 'liquid fantasy', a substance taken by people after stimulant drugs to help them feel relaxed.

The police spokesman said officers were still investigating the incident but so far no one has been charged over Sunday's incident.

As of Monday morning, two people were still being treated at the hospital, according to a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman.

The six people were at a Dirty Funken Beats Island Party at McLarens Landing on South Stradbroke Island, The Courier Mail reported.

'We believe they have consumed something they should have not have,' a police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia on Sunday.

'It could be an illicit substance, but we can't say that categorically.'

The sixth man was treated by paramedics at the scene but did not require further treatment.

Stupid media using gross make believe names. Every time you hear of these nicknames for drugs they're never heard on the streets. Would expect nothing less from the daily fail

^It's GHB/GBL/1-4b, "Fantasy" is one of those names the media made up for it, although it caught on a bit in the Brisbane scene.

I'm just surprised there was enough G in one place in Qld for 6 people to blow out. And that that place happened to be Stradbroke Island...

The first time I heard it referred to as "Fantasy" and Liquid Ecstasy was following a mass blow out in a Gold Coast club almost 20 years ago.

Never heard anyone use "dope" for heroin in my life - and the only people I know who call weed "dope" are bogans and hippy burnouts.

Must be an aussie thing, never in my life heard GHB reffered to as fantasy. Liquid ecstacy on the other hand I have. Figured it was yet another media name that nobody has ever heard of. The dope = heroin thing is probably a US thing, especially on the east coast. You typically only hear the older generation refer to cannabis as dope. Some people, especially on the west coast where meth is prominent, refer to meth as dope as well. For the most part though If you bring up dope around here the first thing that comes to peoples mind is heroin, unless you're speaking to people over 40.
