I think breaking a habbit is the hardest part.
But once that's over - giving up = FREEDOM! Of course though, it can be a personal hell if you think you've given up and still hold hopes for a partnership. For example, someone who is depressed or uneasy about their position has not given up hope. Their problem is that they have hopes that they're too afraid to realize. COWARD!
But sure, not feeling the need to depend on other's is freedom. And I'd hardly call it an act of bravery nor an act of cowardice. It's contentment, for however long it may last.
