They have circular polarimeters on alibaba for sale for about the price of a gram of meth in Australia. They are quite small so would not require huge quantity of product: possibly chinese knock-offs of the israeli model in the second link

Despite no longer consuming meth that’s almost cheap enough for me to buy to do this experiment on some local product

They are quite small so would not require huge quantity of product

They are quite big - those tubes (of any size) are 8ml per 10cm path (around -2° per gram of pure levoMA), although if their specified accuracy of +-0.05° is real, or just slightly off, then it should be good enough when a whole gram of material is available.
Although it's also quite a big&heavy thing to own/have around. Especially for someone who'd need it only for this purpose. But yes, it seems like an reasonable option.
