Hi all - I have had several injuries for which I got 5mg hydrocodone (Vicodin) and some 5mg Percocets. I guess I am a lightweight, 15mg of hydrocodone or 3 percs would give me a decent buzz, once a week (I would even nod a little). Over time, it has become less and less decent. Now I can barely even feel 20mg hydrocodone or 4 percs and thats 1 week in between go's. WTF? I understand the pharmacodynamics of acute tolerance, but even 7 days without?

I took 6 months break from oxycodone and thought that my tolerance for recreational use would have gone down to the starting point and would get high from 20mg chewed. Instead I got nothing except the pain relief and needed to take a 60mg to get any euphoria or nods.

I think that the tolerance caused when on small doses keeps on being the same even if there would be a lengthy perioids of staying away when compared to a smallest recreationally doses.

Well thats depressing. I'd like to test the premise against oxy but I havent been able to find any for almost 2 years (friend moved away, dont know where to look). When I snorted 20mg I was damn near tripping.

Bummer :(

Definitely simple tolerance...or should I say complex tolerance. ;)

I've never consistently used opioids enough to up my tolerance, but you'll also hear of people who take multi-month breaks and their tolerance does go down but rises much much quicker once they use again. Some people try and use small amounts of dextromethorphan to keep their tolerance low, something to do with the delta/kappa action I think but don't recall for sure.
