Simple Pleasures

Smelling a rose all glistening
with morning dew. Making someone smile
by telling a joke. Listening
to children playing games, while licking
a soft ice-cream.

Dozing off in a blurred haze;
a friend kills the light for you, blowing
a "good-night" kiss. Bright days,
these days: love so sweet, skies so blue and
a soft ice-cream.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that sometimes with poetry simplicity is the key ingredient - and if a poem effectively captures a moment or a feeling that I want captured then the simpler the poem is the more likely it is to succeed!
