Similarity between Salvia and DMT

I've heard a couple people now tell me that salvia extract and DMT are similar. Is this true?

I've never tried DMT and am very keen to, but my one experience with salvia was terrible. No vast universal ego death experience, just a good old-fashioned bad trip panic attack.

How similar are the two?

They're similar in that they're both short in duration, very intense, and usually smoked. That's about it. I've used Salvia but not DMT, and my Salvia experiences were very unlike what I understand the effects of DMT to be. Do some reading about both, on Erowid or Bluelight or elsewhere on the internet. You should be able to get a fairly good sense of the difference from reading effects lists, experience reports, etc.

^ This. Their similarities lie in duration and intensity, but qualitatively they are completely different experiences. I see them as sort of opposites, actually. Light-years apart, anyway.

Completely different for me.

DMT is like going to a comfortable party.

Salvia is like climbing into a random pit of distorted hell.

Common factor: Blasting off and eventually landing. Duration and overall loss of reality are similar, and that is it. The trips aren't that comparable, though with the right mindset they could be.

I guess I need to try DMT, I just can't think of how to find it, even though I live in amsterdam...

I remember the weird thing about salvia is that I forgot I was tripping, which flipped me out

Not at all
They are the same only in the fact they can easily take you into the far reaches of your mind, but the manner in which they do it is not similar at all
