Hello all!

Wanted to see if anyone else has anything to say about this..

I have given birth naturally twice 10-15 years ago and have only tried mdma and lsd recently, years after my births.

I'm amazed at how similar many sensations were (physical, emotional and spiritual) while using these substances and during the births of my kids!

I know that many hormones like endorphins and oxytocin are implicated in birth which have a profound effect on how the woman & baby feels and experiences the world at the time..

Any other trippin' mamas out there who'd care to share?? ;)

Its been a long time since I rolled and as far as I know men can't give birth but I recall MDMA being a highly pleasurable experience and I don't think there is another women in the world that would even consider compairing the 2.

There may be something in the hormones and mother child bonding and stuff but I know that giving birth hurts more than anything except maybe being burnt alive so I fail to see the compairison. :\

I haven't given birth in a few years, but I do recall last time I did that it felt a lot like heroin and MDA.

You're probably thinking of the feeling of the oxytocin releasing, I esp felt similarities when I first breastfed my babies, but to a far lesser extent. I had pain meds after and the euphoria from those are similar to mdma high as well.

Hmm... this is an interesting topic. I'm not really experienced enough to give an opinion.

Physical comparison though? lol. I could see emotionally/spiritually, but I think you need to further explain the physical comparison lol.

Not to say that pain is not involved in giving birth, I do feel that physically contractions of labor (due possibly to endorphines released because of them) felt like huge rushes, trembling, melting inside, waves of warmth and excitement all over peaking and subsiding and then peaking again, huge awareness of genitals, many orgasmic-like moments combining pain and pleasure, feelings of unity with it all, feelings of overcoming ego, being totally one with your body but also beyond and above it... Visuals, fuzzy vision, light radiating from objects, increased sensitivity to sound, touch...

Imo It's most definitely the oxytocin.

I don't think it's ridiculous or a joke to compare the two. I've only heard it described secondhand, but the women I've talked to about their childbirths didn't seem to resent the act of pregnancy itself -- I imagine that it's a powerful (albeit painful, of course) experience, and (anecdotally) more so for women who do it without the aid of painkillers. A woman's body is flush with oxytocin and endorphins during pregnancy...from a purely neurological perspective, there must be something impressive going on aside from pain.

MDMA releases oxytocin, so I wouldn't be surprised if the two experiences were physiologically similar. I also wouldn't be surprised if one free-associated intense experiences just based on their intensity; even if there were no physiological similarities, one might still draw a connection between the two. *shrug*
