Silly question: Does Kratom make you itchy?

One of the worst parts of taking opiates for me was the itchiness factor. I literally scratched my nose raw on a few occasions because my face got uncontrollably itchy anytime I would take dilaudid or oxy.

Does Kratom release histamine in a similar fashion? I know I could have just looked it up, but I'm lazy and I figured someone would reply in a matter of minutes.

I am not 100% familiar with mu-opioid receptor's and histamine release. However I have never ever felt " itchy " on very high dose's of Kratom, keep in mind part of this plant will work on the mu-opioid receptors just like oxy.

Then again I have never got itchy on Oxy, however I rarely take over 40mg in a day.

I'm sure someone will chime in with better info than me.

I get itchy on kratom every time. It's not upsetting though, I kinda enjoy the feeling.

Hell yes, especially at heavy doses. I can usually tell I've used too much if the itching outweighs the euphoria. I've had similar reactions to tramadol and oxycontin, but not nearly as bad as kratom. I've found that taking it with 50-100mg diphenhydramine helps a lot and potentiates the kratom nicely.

Ya kratom will make you just as itchy as regular opiates. I second what GURO said, diphenhydramine definitely helps the itch and will most likely add a good noddy aspect to the high.

5 grams will get me itchy as long as I'm not using daily but nowhere near the extent of what oxy/hydro does.

Yes, kratom makes me itchy especially on my nose. Diphenhydramine (Benedryl) will help this, but beware to keep it to 25-50mg, as any more will cause unpleasant drowsiness that will ruin your kratom experience, and you'll probably just pass out.

Kratom doesn't make me itch. But it did in the beginning, before I was scripted oxy. Now that I'm downgrading, and occasionally use kratom to supplement my codeine, it doesn't make me itchy, but the CODEINE makes me itch like a motherfucker. This is a good sign, actually, it means that the codeine is effective for me and I no longer need oxycodone. I'm hoping by mid-summer to be off all opiates and only use occasionally for a good time. I've got fibromalygia, which means that drugs like Neurontin are more effective. My back pain issue is starting to go away with the use of epidural steroid shots.

Tramadol, which I intend to try for the fibro, doesn't make me itch at all. I guess it depends on your tolerance.

It doesn't make me itch very much. The only times it seems to happen is when I take more than one dose in a day, as the last one starts wearing of I might get a bit itchy around the legs. It's not particularly bad though and anti-histamines do completely take it away :).
