Buffer usually contains a carbonate salt, which is Alkali (base). Buffer is NOT added to Marquis.
If done, this will produce a typical acid/base neutralization, which - because Marquis contains a concentrated acid- will be vigorous and release a lot of heat. Small amounts of water & other ingredients are released as vapors. This vapor mixture is toxic to breathe.
An aged Marquis will usually appear brown in color. Simons will also turn a brown color if its shelf life is exceeded, sometimes also producing a precipitate. Heat and/ or light can hasten the process.
