Side effects of heavy psychedelic use?

I've been off of psychedelics for about 5 years..give or take, and I've been completely sober for 7 months. Floors still breathe, but it's been a while since I've gotten the full psychedelic collague of colored patterns that I use to get rather frequently. I haven't ever had issues with my thought processes and so forth, with the exception of society acceptance. Seeing the relevance of currency and a hand full of other things is getting harder to grasp. I've had my sprees of constant psychedelic use, but that didn't last for a prolonged period of time. I appreciate the way the floors still melt, but that's just me.

Psychedelics are fun, but you're extremely young to have the collective experience you've already had. You'll eventually move on to narcotics if you don't change something with yourself. They're easier to get, and they're a lot easier on your head than prolonged psychedelic use. I agree with JBrandon on preferring to handle dependency rather than neurosis, but I'm not in a moment of dependency. If I was in the middle of withdrawal, I'm sure I'd gladly accept neurological damage over the intense pain and other side-effects that go along with my detox of opioids and benzo's. That is in the middle of the moment. Both are horrible things, but withdrawals fade away rather quickly compared to permanent damage. I'm pro-psychedelic as much as the most logical minded person, but abuse of psychedelics don't bring you anything good. You'd be a fool to think the constantly sporadic, overwhelming processes on the sensory that psychedelics cause are not damaging.
